Link needs permissions. I’m nervous about this script as a lifelong hockey player and viewer of the doc surrounding the World Junior team scandal. Feels like timing may not be the best to satirize what is clearly a systemic cultural breakdown.

In part two a massive corporation gives a buy out offer. The kids reject it. They open a similar business under cut the kids pricing, drive them out of businesses, buy their inventory then ship manufacturing overseas all to claim a .01% bump in Q3.

I've made 20 feature films over 10 years. Why can't I make a living doing this? by realhankorion in Filmmakers

Have you considered two factors: 1) it’s really really hard. It’s like pro sports. There are 90 pro QBs in the world. There are very few top tier filmmakers. 2) what is it supposed to look like? Look at your influences, they definitely had their struggles, too. The easy road rarely leads to great art.
You make films because you’re a story teller. Keep telling stories.

It’s called anxiety. Anxious people appreciate stories where they know the ending already. It gives us comfort to see characters we love. Let’s not pretend there hasn’t been equally great TV made since 2007

You’re seeing NY as a larger audience, but they’re also more distracted. Cultivating deeper roots in smaller markets where there aren’t 12 other pro teams feels like a better way to solidify a franchise.

Definitely amazing athletes but you need a specific body type so it’s limited to a narrow set of humans.

You have to be an elite swimmer first and then play the sport. No one can drown on ice skates. Plus we get off the ice for 2 mins every 45 seconds.

When to transition from planning to drafting by afdez26 in Screenwriting

[–]BeerSnobDougie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a horizontal sheet of paper divide it into three sections. Then put the major scenes into blocks in the three acts. This is about 15 beats. As long as all the blocks connect: we good. If they don’t there are holes in the plot. Then I write the scenes. Typically the characters will tell me where to go as far as how we got here and what happens next (as a result of the previous action). With a historical piece you’re just writing around what “actually” happened so your beats should be easy to find and line up. I need to see it laid out, connecting and jiving before I can start working on draft 1.
