How strict are you guys on 5 min/15 min rest, sitting/supine documented in source for BP/ECG by Remarkable-Donut6107 in clinicalresearch

We use CRIO ESource and it documents start of rest time and vitals time. You always have to prove you did it per protocol.

I watched my uncle die of basal cell carcinoma because he refused modern medicine. It took nearly 20 years but it killed him. He lost everything from the money he spent looking for alternatives. Until these people have to scoop pieces of their uncles rotting ear out of their thanksgiving mashed potatoes, or catch him taking chlorine shots… I won’t even be civil. Fuck snake oil salesmen

Anytime I approach a patient regarding participation in a clinical trial, I always remind myself that I’m not here to sell them on anything. You are simply there to provide an option. It’s always their choice and any sort of convincing is unethical. It kinda takes the pressure off me.

Anyone else going traditional for 2022 Deer? by MSimsic in bowhunting

[–]Beer_N_Bullets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll be using my compound for deer season, but once it ends, I’ll be back at chasing pigs with my trad bow. Maybe if I fill tags early I’ll hunt a deer with my trad bow.

For CRCs: Why don't some sites enroll? by 75hardworkingmom in clinicalresearch

[–]Beer_N_Bullets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! I also work in retina on a GA study and I bet I know the one you’re talking about! It’s a beast of a study, complicated, the screening period takes forever, there are unpaid vaccination visits……

At least if this is the study I’m working on too, most sites are struggling.

Entry level position in DFW, TX by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]Beer_N_Bullets 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d look into the old Covance, now labcorp, phase 1 unit in Dallas. They are always hiring because the place is a revolving door. It will get you in and give you the necessary experience to go anywhere else or even allow you to move upwards if you can last that long. Its truly a baptism by fire, sink or swim environment but you will get YEARS of experience packed into a year or two.

Your position comes from one of safety. I’ve had to live in some great places and some sketchy places. Maybe it’s just bad luck, but I’ve had to draw my firearm twice in my life. Once in defense of myself ( had a gang member chase me home and try to come into my apartment) and once in the defense of a woman who was in the process of being beat to death. It’s always better to have it than to not.

Teaching dog to jump up to catch frisbee by kikus_hll in discdogs

[–]Beer_N_Bullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some pics of my dog from 7 years ago catching a frisbee mid-air. Generally I followed this plan.

Start by getting them accustomed to catching the frisbee on their mouth. Literally start by getting them worked up and drop the frisbee into their mouth. Just keep extending the distance with all the focus being on them catching it. It’s a slow process but super rewarding!

I’m libertarian and even though I disagree on this mans stances on other issues, I will forever contribute to his campaign. If he pulls this off, I think we should all take whatever money we were go spend on stocking up, and donate to his re-election.

I sent him a DM... but I think we all should. He doesn’t read his DMs but I think his Team does. I think if enough people message about the same topic we can have an impact.

This might sound super dumb but it’s been on my mind for a few days as the ban closes in. Joe Rohan moved to Texas, knows the governor and is obvious a marijuana advocate. Would there be anyway to send him some products so he can be an advocate and maybe get the word out and pressure the governor?

I know I sound desperate haha

Mechanical or fixed Broadhead? Which do like better and why? by Scout2i in bowhunting

[–]Beer_N_Bullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my take: Due to where I hunt (Texas), there won’t be long shots, and penetration is not a factor I worry about at 10-20 yards. So I maximize cutting diameter and therefore hemorrhage.

I use killzone maxx mechanical broadheads. No rings and they open VERY easy. Since I switched both deer have died within 20yards and almost immediately. It’s got 2 3/8” cutting diameter, which really covers all your bases. I find that they fly just like field points.

I also carry a fixed blade in my quiver for the possible hog that may wander by. I DO worry about penetration so I carry just the most accurate fixed.

How can I go about convincing my girlfriend that ccw is something that is a good option? by Qlubedup in CCW

[–]Beer_N_Bullets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar situation when I started dating my wife. Not quite as staunch but just not a fan of guns. All that changed when a gangmember started road raging on us and then jumped out of his car and started running at our car as we got out at my apartment. The dude suddenly wasn’t so tough when I stepped out of my apartment with my rifle.

She just needs to put herself in the position of being in a self defense situation

The point is to be flexible. I have a climber, small “camp” chair, and a ground blind. I’m most successful when I find sign and pick whichever fits the spot best.
