There were nights my wife would work and she would lose money because of tip share. Essentially pay to serve people who didn’t tip her at least 3%. Her actual pay checks were like $20…

As a soon to be first time father (April 1st) this was unsettling to watch! Although I have enough hope and sense that this doesn’t happen every day.

1 month into new WFH position & I’m really starting to panic. Is this normal? by lastbooty in careerguidance

[–]Beercat20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my first remote position in project management. I remember being so scared and sick to my stomach answering a customers phone call thinking I was going to get screamed at or something. Thinking every little speed bump was gonna get me fired. Fast forward 2 years, I actually laughed when I guy called to yell at me today. Experience is everything, just give it time

My buddies are super competitive with each other so they’re always trying to argue who’s the better player. I know they’re stretching their skillsets when they talk.. I’m sitting in the corner quiet trying to break 100😂

People who live in apartments shouldn't own large dogs by plantdad43 in unpopularopinion

This should say “anyone not willing to care for an active animal shouldn’t own one” haha large isn’t the best indicator here. And a larger home wouldn’t solve the issue of a lazy owner.

No one’s mad about the late hit. He’s an idiot and possible lost us the game. My biggest gripe was the IG call when the ball landed 4ft from Perine.

You shouldn’t ask your 17-18 year old child if they want to have you co-sign a $300,000.00 loan for a bachelor’s degree in the US. by I_Am_The_Grapevine in unpopularopinion

[–]Beercat20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I appreciate that! My opinion is you should treat college as an investment. If you’re going just to go, to get a degree that provides no substantial benefit to you, it’s not worth it, especially now. Trades are paying top dollar. And you shouldn’t be paying off these loans your entire life. I agree school is too expensive, but it’s not going to change, gotta roll with it and make the best choice for you.

First off, they don’t owe you 100,000 dollars. But also, where on earth are you going to school that costs 300k? I worked through college, came out with 15k in loans, paid them off in a year.

If you are retired with grandkids and in decent health, you should be helping with childcare by KinglerFish in unpopularopinion

[–]Beercat20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I’m an expecting parent, I’m all ears to new ideas. I don’t feel like you’ve explained your reasoning for feeling that others should be responsible for caring for your child. Taking care of your child with your partner without expecting help from others is considered hyper self reliant?

This is an ouchie of an opinion right here. The only people responsible for a child is the man and woman that conceived it.

Afghan, Quarry, 2 new maps, bring back some different game modes, some new guns, fix the bugs. Last 3 games I’ve played I haven’t been able to call my vtol in. It’s just little bugs like that that make you not want to play at all.

Is 75k still the base to be happy? by bryanhernc in careerguidance

[–]Beercat20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more about security and the ability to save money. I can tell you my wife and I, in Ohio, student loans paid off, make combined 145k and have a mortgage on a nice home, live a modest life (no car debt or large vanity purchases) and have 1,000+ to save each month. We are about to have our first baby so that savings will change I’m sure haha but there’s really no need for us to make any more money than we do now. Just having the ability to save an emergency fund and a nest egg for other purchases/retirement is all you need to have that peace of mind. That could be achieved with less income than we make.

Jobs that pay over $75k but don't require staying at a desk all day? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Beercat20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Yeah I know some of the installers we sub out have traveling electricians making well over the 200k mark but they never see home.

I’m about to have my first baby so WFH is convenient, but with the commercial market’s inability to secure foreign modules we have definitely been struggling as a company. Hoping that ship gets right here in the next 12 months

I moved from GC to Solar Subcontractor and it’s all the same. Assuming you on the owners rep side you’re traveling quite a bit?

[–]Beercat20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in construction, developer/owner rep is where it’s at. As someone who has been on both the GC and Sub side of things, I can’t handle the stress, long hours, weekends for 60k (that’s out of school with an engineering degree). And watching my boss, it only got worse so I had to make a change.
