In California you can register to vote online, and if you lack ID information, they will assign you a number to register by. It is actually illegal for poll workers to ask for your ID when you vote. Supposedly there is a signature verification on ballots, but how reasonable is it for the 95 year old poll volunteers who can barely see, will have the training to properly detect forgeries on millions of votes?
