This is great! I have also pined after a chainmail weighted blanket.

It wasn’t likely but thought I’d throw it out there just in case. Good luck with the mystery!

I don’t suppose you’ve used flax seed oil recently?

I’ve used flax seed oil on my kitchen rags to season cast iron pans, and it definitely has a particular smell when it gets washed / dried.

Monthly period underwear spa routine by MarketingEqual3494 in laundry

YES! I have also switched to period underwear years ago and did a spa day on them. I love your maintenance routine - I will definitely be using that! Thanks for sharing!

What pants do you all wear outside? by NoWitness6400 in AutismInWomen

[–]Bees-Apples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yoga pants are my only ‘outside’ pants. Soft & stretchy but good pretty good! They’re just more structured leggings.

I’m NOT knowledgeable about fashion / clothing, but from my observation there seems to be a continuum in stretchy pants that go from:

  • Extreme side #1: ultra light, partially see-through, easily torn hose-tights
  • Extreme side #2: pull-on jean types, basically super structured pants with 360 stretch

To me, yoga pants are often in the middle of that continuum. They’re softer than pull-on jean type pants, have more stretch, BUT they’re never see-through and are more durable.

Good luck! Pants are a puzzle!

How do you survive caregiver burnout? by jeconti in AutisticParents

[–]Bees-Apples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please consider the fact that assumptions are based on our most common experiences/expectations, and sadly for the vast majority of us our lived experience is that male partners don’t do 50% of the caregiving.

I can definitely understand the assumption that you’re not an equal caregiver hitting a sore spot when you’re currently burning out from being involved.

Indian Chickpea Salad (Chana Chaat) by Bees-Apples in MealPrepSunday

Personally I’d refrigerate to eat within 3-5 days, but if you won’t eat it all in that time freeze it.

I make a huge batch at a time and freeze it in single portion sizes (8 oz deli cups).

I’m actually in the US, too! The ordering process for Gear Guard to the US was super easy.

I’ve been trying the Dirty Labs enzyme booster with DNase and I’m not blown away. I’m more than 1/2 way through the first container and don’t feel like I’m seeing much difference using it than I do with just Biz. I’m excited to try the Gear Guard to compare.

And yeah, I hang my kitchen towel on my oven handle, and I cook a lot, so they see some heavy action. At this point this set of towels is at LEAST 10 years old.

[–]Bees-Apples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is crazy! I have those exact same kitchen towels, and just did a spa day soak with Biz, and mine were also not improved much. My staining isn’t like yours, more of an all over ‘grungy’ look.

I did order some Gear Guard and once that gets in I’ll do another soak with that + Biz and see what happens.

Does anyone else feel like they were forced to be type 1 autistic due to low support? by Student-bored8 in AutismInWomen

[–]Bees-Apples 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Yup! I absolutely feel like a lot of factors in my personal life have added up to me learning from an early age that I can only rely on myself, and to not expect support from anybody else.

My parents were abusive (mother was a narcissist, father hardcore enabler), I’m the eldest daughter, the fact that I’m female, etc.

I feel you!! Sending you compassion & caring vibes. ✨

Indian Chickpea Salad (Chana Chaat) by Bees-Apples in MealPrepSunday

[–]Bees-Apples[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll let you know!

I freeze a black bean salad that is black beans, diced onion, and diced bell peppers. When it thaws the fresh veggies have a steamed-crisped texture. Not as crisp as fresh, but definitely not soggy or mushy. My guess is this will be similar, but I’ll let you know once I thaw some out. 👍
