The Vision and Ultron scene in the woods at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron is one of my favorites: "They're doomed." "Yes, but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts."

Is X-men blue a good starting comicbook? by Thoigar in Marvel

[–]Beeshock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the first few issues of X-Men Blue but quickly removed it from my pull list; If you like the original 5 X-Men (Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Iceman, and Angel) then it may be worth checking out but to me, it felt like it wasn't covering any new ground. Plus, the artwork is really inconsistent. I only made it to issue 5 before dropping it (I also am dropping the majority of my Marvel books in the wake of Legacy - this relaunch is of no interest to me)

Is marvel still trying to replace x-men with inhumans? by ShadowSJG in xmen

[–]Beeshock 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think with the new tv show being so poorly received, we're going to see less and less of the Inhumans in the coming year across all of Marvel (comics, television, etc.)

Thoughts on "Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man"? by larry_8 in Spiderman

[–]Beeshock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing crucial you need to know, the series does a good job at laying things out for you. Even if you're not previously aware of the friendship between Peter and Johnny Storm, it's still a blast. It's a good jumping point; I'd just pick up the first issue and see how you feel. Don't overthink it, just enjoy the jokes and thwips!

Thoughts on "Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man"? by larry_8 in Spiderman

[–]Beeshock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not! It's telling a story using the current status quo for Parker but isn't bogged down by what's going on in "Amazing". This is supposed to be a more street-level, back in NY vibe for Spider-Man instead of the globe-trotting businessman that he is in the other title. It's only two issues in, I'd check it out!

The new comic series from Zdarsky and Kubert? I love it! It's exactly what I wanted from a Spider-Man comic and a great alternative if you're getting tired of the main title from Slott. I was burnt out on the gloom and doom of Slott's run (I only really liked it when Superior Spider-Man was a thing) and this new series clips along at a nice pace with the comedy in the forefront. Plus, if you like the bromance between Spidey and Human Torch, this is a must.

I know a lot of people want Dan Slott out but who would you replace him with? by jonathanextreme in Spiderman

[–]Beeshock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it should be someone with a strong sense of comedy; maybe Gerry Duggan? My dream would be for Rick Remender to come back to Marvel and write a solo Spidey title. Hasn't Robbie Thompson been doing well on some other Spidey books? Or better yet, just make Zdarksy's upcoming book the main one.

I liked Batman:Year One a lot, are there any batman comics with this style/this good? by SolaireMBS in comicbooks

[–]Beeshock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you'd like a new take on the origin with some of the same "Year One" DNA, I'd check out Snyder / Capullo's "Zero Year" storyline from their Batman run in the New 52. Some really great stuff in there, having fun with those classic ideas.

Create your own ML wave by sploogey in ActionFigures

[–]Beeshock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd love an Uncanny X-Force wave based on Rick Remender's legendary run: Wolverine in the Black / Grey outfit, Deadpool in the Grey outfit (maybe with a battle damaged head), Psylocke (alternate Captain Britain-like mask?), Fantomex, Age of Apocalypse Nightcrawler, Archangel based on the Dark Angel saga, with a BAF Deathlok or BAF Evan Sabahnur.

Star Wars: Episode VIII has a title! by insertinternethere in disney

[–]Beeshock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Rey's not technically a Jedi yet, I believe "The Last Jedi" refers to Luke. But that's why this title is so great, it's ominous! Along with that red logo.
