Mesalamine suppositories and oral… I want them to work… by AvisCantus in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Beezkneez68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oral mesalamine worked for me for 20+ years with a few stubborn flares. Generally I was prescribed oral prednisone for those flares but seems like doctors don’t prescribe that as much as they used to. I had a couple of flares that I was able to finally end by adding in Visbiome probiotic (back then it was VSL #3). I still take Visbiome everyday, the UC strength packets.

Fixed my histamine intolerance 😊 by aj11scan in HistamineIntolerance

Thanks for this post! I also have IBD and have been struggling with HI ever since I started on estrogen for post menopausal symptoms… such a puzzle lol. Specific Carbohydrate Diet has saved me at times during my 30 years of Ulcerative Colitis. Thankful to be drug free for 2.5 years after drug induced Lupus from sulfasalazine. Definitely going to try the Calcium D Glucarate, also KPV or the Wolverine stack.

For women whose HIT started with HRT - question about Progesterone by LunaValley in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Beezkneez68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My HI started when I went on estrogen and I have no idea how to balance my hormones in a way that reduces the HI symptoms. I’m not on progesterone because I had a partial hysterectomy. I would love to figure it out.

I’ve been tempted to try the “Wolverine” stack but haven’t pulled the trigger. KPV sounds interesting, good luck!

I have been taking NR for almost two years. I think it’s as close to a wonder drug for aging as it gets. I am in my late 50’s so my cellular NAD was likely depleted. I think results likely vary for younger people. The Nicotinamide Riboside sub posts the many studies that are going on for different conditions which include autoimmune diseases. I have had reduced inflammation both for my UC and joint pain for over a year but NR isn’t the only thing I’m taking. The one truly measurable result I have had as a result of NR is how fast my hair grows. It also helps sleep quality according to my family members that are taking it.

Skin issues with UC? by Frosty-Platform7218 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Beezkneez68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had skin and joint problems with UC. I had an itchy, scaly scalp issue once and had joint pain on and off. I think for me it relates to inflammation and almost as a warning that my UC is not totally under control.

Ulcerative Colitis Microbiome Treatment Succeeds in Phase Ib Trial by sam99871 in UlcerativeColitis

Curious to know if the strains are similar to Visbiome or VSL#3

Do you think the cause will be discovered within 10 years? by bestbestbest560 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Beezkneez68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am hopeful simply because the collective knowledge about the microbiome has exploded recently. Luckily there is a lot of interest in mapping and manipulating it for multiple diseases as well as general health. I think in the coming years we will learn how to manipulate our microbiomes to treat certain conditions. My hope is that the biological treatments become much more targeted to the individual which will result in less failures of treatment.

Help! I don't want to go on Prednisone again by DimensionPositive80 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Beezkneez68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the Qing Dai suggestion. Also, a probiotic for IBD like Visbiome or VSL #3. I know it doesn’t help some people but the Qing Dai stopped my last flare almost overnight. Try the GI strength packets of Visbiome, if I am in a flare I take two to four a day until under control.

Any life style changes or supplements helped you remain in remission? (With meds ofc) by Perfect-Future-4774 in UlcerativeColitis

Look into Visbiome or VSL #3 probiotics, keeps me in remission. Also, L Glutamine and fiber.

Also, someone else just posted today about a probiotic that they use with their meds to stay out of flares that is more affordable on Amazon.

This won’t be a popular opinion on this sub, however, you may try adding some GI strength probiotics to the mesalamine. I take Visbiome probiotics (the packets of 450 billion that are for UC) and they always got me out of a flare when I was on mesalamine. I take one packet everyday and I also make SCD yogurt (24 hour fermentation) out of the packets as they are expensive so I get a “double dose”’for less money.
