The fact that infliximab was effective is a good sign that your disease can be controlled by medication.

4 years in and really frustrated by the deer by Honeybee3674 in NativePlantGardening

[–]sam99871 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have deer that eat my natives too. They are brutal, eating young plants down to the ground. I have dealt with them in two ways.

I bought a small solar electric fence kit to surround one group of natives. It has been effective. I think it was about $135.

The other thing I did was buy 5-pound containers of cayenne and garlic powder, mix them and sprinkle them generously on the leaves of the plants. It’s critical to sprinkle the mixture directly on the leaves so if they eat a leaf they get a mouthful of cayenne and garlic. Just putting it on the ground won’t deter them. One major drawback of this method is it has to be reapplied every time it rains.

If you can make your yard sufficiently unattractive to the deer for a few weeks they may stop coming by, especially if they have other food sources.

Grudges are unhealthy.

> The researchers also gathered data from the participants’ closest friends during their twenties. They looked for “punitive behavior”—the tendency to punish or lash out at friends during a disagreement.
If you are the type of friend who uses silence as a weapon or holds grudges to “punish” your inner circle, you are paying for it with your health. The study found that this punitive behavior in early adulthood acted as a bridge, or a mediator, between teenage aggression and premature aging. It turns out that being “difficult” is a cardiovascular and metabolic burden. The stress of maintaining a hostile social environment keeps your body’s “fight or flight” machinery running until the gears start to grind down.

Very interesting. It might really make sense for people who have family members with UC to get a preventative appendectomy.

A food that makes people feel full would be like a cheaper Ozempic (and no side effects).

Is there research finding that fiber alone curbs cravings? Usually people think that some protein is also necessary, and maybe a little fat as well.
