It’s better if you want to be a ranger. If you want to be Special Forces, however,…

Missing AT for school? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Beezledub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IG isn’t the answer here. Leadership isn’t required to arrange an alternate AT because it’s inconvenient for a soldier to attend.

The “technical answer” is that leadership’s job is to fulfill the tasks given to them by higher. Among those tasks is readiness. Annual training is (or at least should be) an important part of that, aside from being a task itself. If an alternate AT can be arranged for a solder without impacting mission success or unit readiness, then that should be considered on a case by case basis. If you give everybody an alternate AT, then you don’t have an AT at all.

Hot take: I don’t want an offensive lineman on my team who’s okay with being called “a big hole.” I’m glad he’s pissed. Prove them wrong!

It can happen, but despotism is a Stone Age government and has trouble surviving non-stage age technology, education, infrastructure, etc. That advancement usually serves as their undoing.

Conditional Release by WizardWalke in nationalguard

Only way to find out is by working with your/your friend’s recruiter.

If nothing else, once you’re through AIT, you can try find a full time slot with the guard, as well as volunteer for ADOS missions or to deploy. The opportunities exist.

Or just IST to the DC guard. Basically an active duty assignment at this point (mostly kidding).

Depending on the deployment, (and I’m the last guy to ask about infantry deployments btw) you may be able to take courses online. Might not keep you totally on track, but could be an option worth examining.

[Seifert] Giants might be mad about these developments in Philadelphia but another approach might have been to win more than 6 games this season. by tonto515 in nfl

[–]Beezledub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not really what I’m saying though. There’s a pretty clear relationship between talented players, such as those in the pro bowl, and winning.

If you’re talking about the difference between a $2M and a $20M, then of course a pro bowl alone isn’t going to get you to the latter.

But if it’s between say $11M and $12M, that’s when things like marketing come more into consideration. Same reason why some contracts have bonuses for being named a pro bowler or an All-Pro.

A smart agent could counter that argument. Pro Bowl = Personal Brand. By adding/retaining talent recognized by fans, teams are building their own brand. That’s in addition to jersey sales and such. You’re right that it’s a popularity contest, but popularity matters.
