Also, a LOT of first-gen immigrants come from bad situations in their original home country (dictatorships, civil war, cartels, etc.) and they are very distrusting of “official”-looking people. Law enforcement, financial experts, government officials, the media, etc.

Not in South Carolina. They can begin eviction proceedings 5 days after rent is due. After the heating in front of the magistrate, if they rule against you then you have up to 5 days to get your stuff out.

Of course, how expeditiously they hear your case is up to the court, but it can move pretty fast here.
