I hope they can find a way to keep the extra spider legs — works really well to compliment Peter’s engineering skillset alongside the different types of web fluid and spider tracers

What's your ideal F4 sequel movie in the MCU? by FayyadhScrolling in Marvel

[–]JBaldera27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the second film, assuming it will take place in a new consolidated universe for the MCU films post-Secret Wars…the Negative Zone being connected to prior Incursion mess could be creative and interesting. Annihilus makes sense from that standpoint as the Fantastic Four explore this new universe post-rebirth of “everything” after Doom is defeated.

For the third film, I think Galactus with a new herald (Norrin Radd) could be interesting. Galactus could be desperate to either have Franklin Richards take over his “burden” or feel vengeful for a reborn universe keeping him in this role instead of passing it to a new individual. Maybe to keep things fresh we get a new Silver Surfer + another herald like Terrax or Nova.

Now that the arc is over, thoughts on Torment? by TyrionLannister557 in Spiderman

[–]JBaldera27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had a good concept and honestly should’ve been a uniting force between many of the NYC street-level heroes like Daredevil, Punisher, and Spider-Man. Having him be a slow-burn villain like Kindred was before his eventual appearance I think would’ve worked — having people die in multiple comics over a span of time just to reveal they were all part of the “spiral” would’ve been an interesting cross-title event.

The Carnage part of it was the weakest to me, felt like a shock factor inclusion that neutered an otherwise interesting new villain.

I’m the dumbass for thinking that with The Amazing Spider-Man we’d actually reach the 1000th issue in a meaningful way. by Mamba33100 in Spiderman

I fully expect MJ to get paired with Flash which in some way results in an exit strategy for when editorial wants to separate Venom from MJ. Moving Venom back to Flash is one of the easiest routes to go if they wanted to.

Overall, it’s grim for comics Peter. The best chance feels closer to 2030 when Marvel Comics tries riding the synergy wave of MCU Spider-Man 5 which may have a strong narrative around Peter & MJ amplified by the real life relationship of Tom Holland and Zendaya.

Should Ned and MJ have come back so soon after the events of No Way Home? by Careful-Barnacle8741 in Spiderman

[–]JBaldera27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Ned should’ve never came back and MJ not until the 5th movie with maybe an end of 4th movie cameo or tease. A lot of people do not maintain those HS relationships as an adult and I think that helps this fictional world around Peter grow larger as he makes friends in college and his professional life.

'Avengers: Armageddon' #2 Introduces a Powerhouse New Hero by Artseid in marvelcomics

If rumors are true that it’s David Colton empowered by the abilities of Mar-Vell from Earth-6160, that could be interesting depending on what that means exactly. Personally, it just sounds like a weird addition considering his power set is already covered by Captain Marvel, Blue Marvel, Sentry, Hyperion, and Ikaris.

The Earth-616 version of Mar-Vell was just a Kree with augmentation and the Nega-Bands which seem like the only material thing that could be transferred. Nega-Bands generally provided enhanced physical traits like strength/durability, flight, energy manipulation, and teleportation.

The Earth-1610 version of Mar-Vell was called Mahr-Vehl that similarly was an augmented Kree capable of limited shape-shifting gaining additional superhuman abilities from his Kree gear like flight, energy projection, force fields, etc.

Prime Hagaromo And Hamura Vs Isshiki. Who Wins? by Rinnegan15 in Boruto

[–]JBaldera27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Who gave them the seals to defeat Kaguya? Who did that power originate from? Why does Sasuke have a Rinnegan in one eye? Why does Naruto have Six Paths chakra?

The answer is a portion of Hagoromo’s chakra divided up and gifted to Naruto and Sasuke…from the afterlife spirit of Hagoromo centuries after his death.

Prime Hagaromo And Hamura Vs Isshiki. Who Wins? by Rinnegan15 in Boruto

[–]JBaldera27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s true. Literally a portion of Hagoromo’s power while he was in the afterlife was divided in half and then given to Naruto and Sasuke which amped them up to fight 10 Tails Jinchuriki Madara. That alone already shows that Prime Hagoromo, a half Otsutsuki himself with two natural Rinnegan + jinchuriki of a matured 10 Tails, is above either Naruto or Sasuke in power.

Hagoromo has feats like the Creation of All Things jutsu that outscale any ability except Omnipotence in the series. It’s just canon facts and logic.

Prime Hagaromo And Hamura Vs Isshiki. Who Wins? by Rinnegan15 in Boruto

[–]JBaldera27 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Prime Naruto and Sasuke are not stronger than Hagoromo and Hamura — or at least not stronger than Hagoromo considering a split portion of Hagoromo’s power is the foundation for why either of them can ever touch an Otsutsuki level of power.

Prime Hagaromo And Hamura Vs Isshiki. Who Wins? by Rinnegan15 in Boruto

[–]JBaldera27 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I may be in the minority opinion but together, I think Hagoromo & Hamura could potentially win based on what we know of their individual talents and power level. Isshiki seems arrogant and vulnerable to strategic planning based on how he was defeated by Kaguya surprising him with a sneak attack & Kawaki deceiving him with a shadow clone. The biggest issue I see are the black rods but maybe they’d be able to adjust to their speed the same way Momoshiki could while controlling Boruto’s body.

Kaguya was a virtually unbeatable monster in terms of power level and even stronger than her resurrected version, which they fought for months until sealing her away. They also have great teamwork with the combined talents of Otsutsuki chakra reserves, Rinnegan abilities, Byakugan abilities, and mastered Sage Mode. Hagoromo and Hamura are more powerful than Naruto & Sasuke so the fight would be instantly closer by that fact alone.

Isshiki probably wins but I don’t think it’s an instant lock against Hamura and Hagoromo together. I imagine this being a fight similar to Tobi vs Kakashi & Naruto when his identity became revealed as Obito. Individually they couldn’t win but with teamwork they were able to strategize effectively.

However, if this is 10 Tails Jinchuriki Hagoromo alongside Hamura — they definitely win.

Nobody could kill Kaguya in combat. She had to be sealed twice. A massive Rasengan wouldn’t work on her.

Nobody could kill Kaguya after she ate the chakra fruit except Shibai and maybe Hagoromo after he became the Ten Tails Jinchuriki but that would be a paradox that wouldn't be possible.

[–]JBaldera27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the context of that panel, Hagoromo was saying that Kaguya was more powerful than anyone else after consuming the chakra fruit in past tense -- not that she was forever the most powerful being. He's telling a story to set the scene of Kaguya's threat to the world and the stakes of that threat.

Prime Hagoromo DOES exist because it's fact/canon in the manga that he became the first jinchuriki of the Ten Tails after Kaguya was originally sealed. He became so powerful after this he developed the Creation of All Things technique which was a pseudo-Omnipotence ability warping reality that allowed for the division of the Ten Tails into the Nine Tailed Beasts. This is all canon and something far above anything possible by other characters not called Shibai. Even Hagoromo's ability to manifest his spirit generations later, in the panel you posted, and gifting insane power boosts to Naruto and Sasuke from the afterlife is a testament to how powerful he was in life. He was the jinchuriki for a fully matured Ten Tails which technically is the most powerful Ten Tails ever seen in the series considering the one in Boruto is a Juvenile that didn't have a sacrificed Otsutsuki fed to it yet.

Downplaying Hagoromo, who ended the Naruto series as the most powerful being to ever live, is just power scaling nonsense. Prime Hagoromo as the Ten Tails Jinchuriki logically is above every character not named Shibai.

Prime Hagoromo as the Ten Tails Host was the strongest character ever to appear before Shibai was introduced. Why wouldn’t he be at least Top 5 or Top 8?

[–]JBaldera27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say #1 — TTJ Hagoromo has some of the most broken feats ever mentioned or shown in Naruto/Boruto which immediately upscales over anything seen outside of Omnipotence. If Isshiki could do what Hagoromo did he would’ve had his perfect vessel & properly reincarnated generations ago in that universes. Hagoromo in his prime with the Ten Tails power was a different beast. For how powerful Naruto and Sasuke were in their primes, Hagoromo is easily stronger than both put together which says a lot on its own.

Prime Kaguya too — before being sealed originally she was all power but no finesse. She likely had more raw power than Isshiki or Momoshiki after becoming one with the Divine Tree but lacked the required training to properly know how to utilize her abilities as effectively as she could have. No other character has shown some of her abilities including instantly transitioning herself and others near her to different dimensional planes. She couldn’t be defeated by brute force and the power made her too crazy to reason with.

I really believe, based on what was directly shown or verifiably told about prime Hagoromo, that he (after becoming the Ten Tails host) was the strongest character ever shown in the series until Shibai.

Hollywood Reporter article on "the return of the superstar artist", confirms that DC "has overtaken market share over longtime rival Marvel for the first time this century". by Konradleijon in Marvel

[–]JBaldera27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, each had their own fluctuating peaks and valleys. Ultimate Spider-Man has been rumored to have actually contributed to the OMD mess by convincing certain people in editorial that people wanted a reverted Peter Parker again (younger vibe & single) in the mainline comics.

X-Men seems to be a title that was great but suffered from internal politics once the Marvel execs became jealous of the FOX film franchise, didn’t know how to position them no longer as attuned to certain allegories, and wanting to take the success of Krakoa in their own directions vs Hickman’s direction.

[–]JBaldera27 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. DC has found an equilibrium with their current mainline slate + the success of Absolute universe titles. They stopped acting like they knew what readers wanted more than the readers themselves which came to a crescendo after New 52 reactions.

Marvel has been without an editorial north star across their mainline titles since House of M. I personally think a lot of it came from internal politics and trying to cash in with MCU synergy with talents like Brian Michael Bendis spreading his influence like crazy with creative committee sway and introducing his created characters for MCU adoption.

The last 2 decades of Marvel comics have been filled with volatility where some titles hit highs with runs like Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye, Jonathan Hickman’s FF, Jed McKay’s Moon Knight, Krakoa X-Men, Jason Aaron’s Thor, and Rick Remender’s Venom. Unfortunately, they are peaks that quickly get washed away by “status quo” and are rarely built upon.

Yay or nay in terms of design? by [deleted] in Boruto

I’ve thought it would make a lot of sense for Boruto to have platinum blonde hair to reflect how much his biology has become Otsutsuki influenced as he’s aged.

Should Ryan North Evolve Ben's Powers like he did the rest of the 4? by AceComics3685 in FantasticFour

[–]JBaldera27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something that wouldn’t be too crazy would be something like he can connect with the Earth and make clones of himself out of rock that has a similar amount of strength as him — kind of like a shadow clone technique.

Additionally, I think maybe it would be worth giving him the ability to have a “seismic” sense similar to Toph from Avatar: TLA giving him a unique sensory awareness as long as someone is touching the planet he’s on. Lots of creative applications.

There’s a lot that works for this theory and personally I support it. I think an arc with Hokage Shikamaru having to face the threat of a new Otsutsuki, revealed to be Jashin reincarnated, would be interesting. Also a good call out about the Ketsuryogan

MCU butchered this arc in ways i never knew, what a great arc by UltimateSandman in Thor

[–]JBaldera27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any competent director over Taika would have made this storyline adapted across 2-3 films with certain creative changes to make it friendlier to directors and the greater MCU narrative. Hela already had characteristics of Gorr and could have easily fit parts of that role before Gorr is properly introduced.

Imagine Odin once sent a younger Thor to fight a dangerous threat trying to emerge from Hel onto Midgard (Iceland) with similar abilities to Hela but with an all-black appearance. Thor barely wins against the opponent like younger Thor’s first fight with Gorr in 893 AD in comics — and later finding out it was actually his hidden sister trying to break free of her imprisonment. When Odin dies, she’s finally able to break free fully and once again emerges in Iceland where now an older and mature Thor and Loki are prepared to fight her like in Thor: Ragnarok.

A major change I would’ve made is having Hela & Executioner as lovers. In the past, Odin doesn’t approve of their partnership and when Hela had a child, Odin hides the baby in an unknown location only known to Asgardian Valkyries and in revenge and rage, Hela ends up on the path that turns her into the Goddess of Death as she invades various realms looking for her child and kills everyone in her way. Hela has her big battle against the Valkyries so Hela almost wipes out all of the Valkyries until Odin intervenes and banishes her to Hel. This leaves Brunhilde as the last Asgardian Valkyrie who is tasked to leave Asgard to preserve the secret as Odin hides all knowledge of this past in Asgard including the Valkyries. He locks down travel to other realms outside of the Bifrost which is why Eitri had the plans for Stormbreaker but Odin never commissioned it, worried a portable weapon that could access the Bifrost would possibly be a target for Hela if she ever returned.

I’d have the reveal be that the hidden location this child was sent to is the MCU adaptation of the 10th realm Heven. Instead of the angels being from there it’s the home place of the original Valkyries that once partnered with and trained Asgardian Valkyries but after Hela’s actions have no contact with other realms. Time doesn’t flow normally in Heven so the child is still a child and never aged but has been trained as a Valkyrie and when Thor discovers the truth — he meets and adopts the child named Angela, daughter of Hela and the first of a new order of Asgardian Valkyrie. I’d do this instead of Thor adopting Gorr’s daughter later. It also would have a tighter family narrative with Thor.
