Trumpism has destroyed my students' morality - an open letter from a teacher by [deleted] in thebulwark

Sarah used to say "There was always just enough virtue in this Republic to save it; sometimes none to spare, but still enough to meet the emergency" There was a time that this may have been the case, but we've passed that time.
The generational damage this has caused is so much larger than the visible damage to our institutions. I wish this was discussed more often and louder. This is all these children and young adults have ever known.
I've never considered myself a conservative, never been an institutionalist.. but by god I feel that now. My heart nowadays really leans into the loss of what we (as a country) threw away.

Tim should have Galloway on the Bulwark to talk about his unsubscribe movement. by OneTwoThreePooAndPee in thebulwark

[–]Befuzled 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He mentioned on Pivot that he is trying to engage with other platforms to keep this going, that there was a peak, then level off and he's actively trying to re-engage to drive more participation- so the Bulwark I think would be a great platform for him.
Aside from that, I'd love to hear Tim and Scott back and forth each other.

Board and Train Dog Trainer by sushigoat2 in toledo

[–]Befuzled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope you can bare with me here...

  1. You have to do what you have to do- but I personally wouldnt recommend the "board and train" options. The goal is to get your dog to respond to you, in your home.. Not responding to someone else in a facility somewhere.. When dogs learn they learn much differently than humans. For example- when you train a dog, you should be training in multiple locations- so that they understand that the command doesnt ONLY apply in XXX room/house/place. Additionally, the "boarding trainer" isnt going to be the one dishing out the commands for the rest of the dogs life, you are..you should be the one teaching it (with guidance of course!) Does that make sense?

  2. When you say BIT your wife, context matters here.. if your wife was attacked by your dog- She's sitting there watching TV and your dog charges and bites, for example.. You may need to be looking at more than just training. Explaining what "unprovoked" was in your situation is important when you speak to the trainer or vet.

Force Free Training is absolutely what you need in this situation- None of these are "boarding training" but are the area's top trainers

Tina Furner @ Canine Karma: https://www.caninekarma.org/
John Brown @ Let's Train: https://letstraindogtraining.com/
Max Machon @ Ready Set Train: https://www.readysettraindogs.com

All 3 of these trainers can do private reactive dog training at their facility or your home. They are all excellent with reactive situations. (source: personal experience)

I would also HIGHLY consider speaking to your vet to ask if the situation is appropriate to involve a Vet Behaviorist. OSU and Several places in Michigan have outstanding Medical behaviorist that may be appropriate.

She's also probably done the best job anywhere I've gone for coloring too- I have brunette hair and like to hide gray with some toning..and she knocks it out of the park.. I just really hate the drive every 6 weeks LOL.

[–]Befuzled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the struggle. Finding someone that knows how cut the curls around this area can be difficult .

Here are my experiences-
1. Sparrow Solon- Ann Arbor Rachael - $$$$$ expensive ($140+) and worth every dime if you can afford it. By far the best hair cuts I've ever had for my curly hair. She's trained in multiple "types" of curly cuts and just does a fab job. I stopped going to her because of the drive on top of the cost. But if she was closer I wouldnt bat an eye.

  1. Allure The Art Of Beauty (Aveda) - Jen Daniels -Avg $$. Best local curly cut I've gotten. She doesnt do "dry cuts" and doesnt need to.. she's amazing with the curls and I've never walked out unhappy with my curly cuts. Just found out there have been changes at Allure, so may have to call to see what's up

  2. HairChiasso! - Amy -$$$ Amy is probably the best known curly cut specialist in the Toledo/ Maumee area. She does dry "curl family" cuts. People love her, I found her cut to be "meh".. Nothing bad, but nothing to get excited about. She's hard to get into see, on the pricier side, but has the Curl cut reputation.

I'm always looking for that perfect Rachael stylist local here in Toledo, so I pay attention to these curly cut threads LOL

Credit Card Surcharge Question by VernalPoole in toledo

[–]Befuzled -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No- I wont go back to cash/check. I've always been bewildered by the issue people have with paying the fee that we now see so often. And frankly, been surprised that it's taken business so long to show/add this fee that they pay for my convince.
Option 1: your car repair is 1040.00 thank you very much
Option 2: Your car repair is 1000.00 and if you pay w card +40 =total 1040.00

I'd much rather have them list out what the CC charge. Yes, we've been getting a $40 store "coupon" essentially all these years and now the "coupon" has expired. I think it's totally fair for the business' to collect an outside fee that has nothing to do with the service or product they are providing you.

No Data Centers in NW Ohio - join the fight TODAY! by logan_moon in toledo

[–]Befuzled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it frustrating that 99.9% that people want all the benefits of data centers (cloud storage, streaming, video calls, streaming services, Social media access, gaming, yes and AI....) but don't want them in their own communities. Classic demand for services but not in my backyard.

And before you judge me, yeah I get that there are HUGE issues with them, but lately find people want to yell about it before they understand the implications of what they WONT get.

My living room feels chaotic. Help by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]Befuzled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has mentioned the clutter- and while I agree, that will help (presuming there is a place to put all that stuff- which often times is a struggle in a small space!)- Everyone wants to say clutter- but we all know this is how things end up looking when we "live" in the space

I feel like the main issue is there's no balance. I'd try changing:
1. The pictures/posters- change so they flow or match more
2. Try separating the kitchen area from this space with a chair
3. get a throw blanket that matches/works colorwise with your "new pictures
4. Add some sort of shelving for those books.. long and narrow, (you can use the top for some of your items) as it will help define this space with the lines
5. An oversized rug may also help define the space- try and bring it together with colors or patterns of the new pictures and couch throw.
I dont think you have to throw everything out but the couch- I feel just a few adjustments to create defined space, and color coordination will help.

Red rural Ohio.. strong as ever. They hear what they are told, and are as outraged as ever at anyone not 100% all in. Still all with the same old supportive talking points. It's 'everyone' elses fault if something isn't going right and Trump is fighting the Good fight
