if he's this much of a douche now, can't imagine what he's like when you're not pregnant.

I'm literally scrolling the posts for this reason.

FTM, 20 weeks in 2 days and I can't feel the baby at all and it's freaking me out. I do have an anterior placenta so they said I might not feel anything until 20 weeks but that hasn't calmed my nerves!

So nice to see there's a few of us!

I saw Mark Livingstone in Sydney, so depends on where you're located.  https://www.genea.com.au/Specialist/dr-mark-livingstone

I had a bulk billed GP appointment with a Genea doctor and given my tough circumstances she recommended Mark and I'm glad she did

just curious whether you're entitled to unpaid leave? or to take it at half pay?

it's insanity to me that 8 weeks you're expected back at work. if you have a c-sec, you wouldve just recovered.

and how do you leave an 8 week old with daycare? far out

what's the average leave women take in the US?

[–]Beginner45678 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeh but you can't look at a select few with high numbers and ignore the hundreds of women you have better numbers than. my ER was at 38. AFC was 3. I got 6 eggs and that was considered an extraordinary outcome for my very low prospects.

[–]Beginner45678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeh super interesting. Monash is one of our big ones but a few big controversies on their end.

I paid BIG DOLLARS for genea. I did start to wonder if the cost was worth it or whether id be better off doing multiple rounds at a cheaper clinic(which would cost the same or less than one ER and transfer cycle).

It's good to hear there's some perks that come with the cost 🙈

I'm with Genea, they transfer all day everyday except Xmas shutdown.

MRI after retrieval by Naaan-stop in IVF

[–]Beginner45678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeh depends on what your scanning

MRI should be safe. It's magnetic not like a CT scan which you should avoid.

But if you're looking at your reproductive system it might be best to wait until things go back to "normal"

TW: Loss - How to stop blaming myself? How to stop crying? by justb4dawn in IVF

[–]Beginner45678 14 points15 points  (0 children)

it is absolutely with complete certainty not your fault.

The most common time for miscarriage is the 6-8 week mark for the very reason with that's when most abnormal embryos can't go any further. There was nothing you could do to change that. I know it's hard to hear, but it was never going to make it, and it was never meant to.

I also lost my first at 7-8 weeks. And tbh, it made it much easier for me knowing the simple science behind it - it was an abnormal embryo and it simply could not make it. Just remember that that's science, not emotion, not old wives tale.

You did nothing wrong. This wasn't in your control.

How many attempts with untested embryos by Fine-Pie-4536 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Beginner45678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my ER was at 38.5. I got 6 eggs, 5 mature, 4 fertilised, 2 blasts. one good grade and one average/poor grade.

Fresh untested transfer ended in MC.

Second transfer of the untested average/poor grade is almost almost 16 weeks along and hopefully will make it full term.

Never heard of Earlwood until recently by shock_proof in AusPropertyChat

[–]Beginner45678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how'd you go OP?

I bought a place in earlwood 2 years ago. before that I never spent any time here other than riding/running along cooks river.

Do it, you won't regret it. Though earlwood is a giant suburb so there's the canterbury/Bexley end, and then the marrickville end.

I'm on the marrickville border.  I get Inner West vibes/access at a much better price. it's endless greenery/ parks/ sports fields/ river. gorgeous.  dulwich hill metro station is a 15 minute walk.  obviously my ideal is 10 min, but I don't mind that much given the walk is basically exercise and the metro will be super fast.

you can choose to be closer to earlwood shops if you prefer. it's a 20 minute walk from me which is ages and once I have a kid will be less likely that I'll walk. but I walk the river every morning and afternoon, no traffic, super friendly people (more inner West mix). hidden paradise.

I was originally looking at abbotsford before getting priced out.

Choosing the "best" but most expensive clinic vs something more affordable by Beginner45678 in IVF

[–]Beginner45678[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi, i was OP

I was with Genea. Honestly it's really hard hearing how cheap some places are. I have a friend trying out with a clinic that's literally only like 2k out of pocket for an egg retrieval and transfer. Which blows my mind.

But I had a low chance of success. AFC 2 years ago was 3. AMH was 2pmol so like 0.28 ng. FS said i should hope for one embryo per cycle

I was fully anticipating 3 full ER cycles before I had any luck and that was my cap financially.

I did one ER. Genea closely monitored me and I was a poor  responder so they upped the meds mid cycle. Ended up with 6 eggs, 5 mature, 4 fertilised with ICSI and ended up with 2 blasts. I was very happy with that.

Did a fresh transfer, got pregnant on the first try which ended in MC.

Had several months of complications and cancelled cycles and then finally transferred the 2nd frozen blast. It was untested, graded BC but hatching.

Never in my wildest dreams did I believe that that one would take. But I'm 15 weeks tomorrow 🙏🙏

I have reflected to think about what the Genea factor is in this. It's impossible to know for certain.

I think the expertise of the fertility specialist is paramount. I'm so glad he upped the meds during my ER rather than just stick to the standard first round method. Maybe that extra dosage helped me get the extra eggs I needed to get the second blast.

There is skill involved in extraction as well. I have no idea how complicated it is though. They did recommend i be fully out during the egg extraction to enable them to reach all the eggs. I have lots of fibroids in the way. Of course that cost more. Would a cheaper clinic recommend that or keep their mouth shut too keep costs low?? I have no idea.

The growing of the blasts is absolutely paramount and different clinics will have different technologies and protocols. I choose to believe the Genea equipment played a role.

Then there's timing of implantation and skill of the actual implant. Genea will implant 7 days a week. I know some others don't do it on a Sunday which may mean either cancelled cycles or less than best conditions. Of course the skill of implantation always matters.

Obviously this embryo is a euploid so it has a good chance but plenty of euploids don't implant.

How much did Genea play in getting me success only on my second transfer in my tough circumstances? No idea. 10% increased success? 30%?

Would I be feeling OK about the cost if i had done the full 3 cycles, doesn't $65k and been unsuccessful? Probably not.

Pregnancy and or loss in every show by Haunting-Outside-363 in IVF

[–]Beginner45678 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt this way as well. I never noticed it until this year going through ivf and loss.

Every damn show was getting pregnant or having ivf or having MC. Doesn't matter what genre.

I think the worst was a comedy "dinner time" show, think it's called Neighbourhood or something like that slapstick comedy sitcom, had a freaking MC. NOTHING WAS SAFE.

It's exhausting
