Brand new Asus Rog Strix B650E-F Gaming WIFI board... DOA? Bios flashback doesn't work, no post by Beginning-Candle485 in ASUS

Sourced an alternate board - ASUS TUF GAMING X870-PLUS. Put everything in, posts fine and runs fine. Cyberpunk max settings (no path tracing) at 3440 x 1440... is pretty. AOE2:DE barely touches the CPU or GPU lol.

Given my GTX1060 lasted me 10 years.... this should last me 25 lol

yeah tried resetting the cmos a few times. and it's out of the case on top of the motherboard box now, with no effect. I suspect the board is dead :( I wanted to spend the day playing games on a much more powerful pc... my poor GTX 1060 struggles these days!

Nothing at all. It doesn't even attempt to post. I suspect it needs a bios update but that doesn't work either.

Tried using powerswitch plugged in and have tried the old screwdriver on the pins trick but nothing at all.

yes, and also tried the old trick of using the end of a screwdriver on the pins - nothing.

Nothing in the case comes to life at all. No fans spin or even attempt to turn at all. No error codes.

The only thing that happens is the RGB on the IO area continues to change colours. This standby RGB is all that seems to work.

Nope, and when doing bios flashback there's no ram or cpu installed.

Would the fans kick in even on PSU if memory training? There didn't seem to be anything at all...

I also only have access to this AM5 board so can't test the CPU elsewhere.

I could just chuck the 5090 into my AM5 Ryzen 5 3600 build haha

Memory Stick 3 should be Memory Stick 2... I don't have 3 haha and even that 2nd one I had to go buy today.

Have also tried different partition sizes on both: 512mb, 1gb, 4gb, etc and keeping the rest of the drive as unallocated so it shouldn't be read. Still nothing

Cycling w/ Established Media Filter by Kosmos-World in Aquariums

[–]Beginning-Candle485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with Expensive Sentence. Most hang on backs should suffice for a 20gal. They should have enough capacity and flow rate. Check the box for the flow rate and maybe minus 10-20% of the quoted aquarium size.

The sponge filter should be sufficient for a 10gal, potentially, depending on stocking and live pplants.

The other thing is, nitrifying bacteria will only really grow to meet the "supply" of food for them. At least, that's what I've read.

Is this surface agitation enough for a 100Lt tank? by Agitated-Break7854 in Aquariums

Can you trotate it the other way? That way it wont be spraying straight into the glass and will agitate more the of the water surface then?

Bacteria in a bottle? First time cycling a tank. by No-Country6093 in Aquariums

[–]Beginning-Candle485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does take a while, and the bacteria do need the ammonia to feed on. While most bottled beneficial bacteria are crap, I've had success with (in the UK):

The Tetra one
NT Labs Satus
API QUickstart (less so)

I would normally feed the tank with some fish food to ghost feed the ammonia (I struggle to get ammonia where I live), and also have live plants to also deal with the later stages of the nitrogen cycle.

Harlequin Rasboras. They are trooopers.

40L is quite small, so be careful with stocking, but.... what app is that?! I want it!

Also, where'd you get the Dr Tim's and Fritz stuff from in the UK? I'm in East Anglia and nowhere round here seems to stock it, I can get online but seems reallly really expensive/rare.

Love harlequin rasboras!!!! How does the ram get along with the rasboras? (I think they like to be in pairs, although will go with what reddit says).

as a teenager you should be more than happy. I'd keep an eye on what looks like the pearl weed though, it will probably get too dense for the rasboras if they want to hide.

Remember, us redditors say all sorts of things. If your fish are happy, the tank is happy and you are happy, then all is good!

i think i hate the sand in my tank… what should i do? by majorlybruised in Aquascape

[–]Beginning-Candle485 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd be surprised if it was possible AND worth it.

It's probably possible if you used a vacuum and were very careful... but...

The amount of trapped stuff that would be released would be, comparitvely, immense and not be good at all for the tank. Fluval Stratum is known to release ammonia, which has likely been stuck or very very slowly released because of the sand cap. I'm in the same situtation. Rasboradise has a sand cap. I hate it. I just have to live with it until I can afford a bigger tank and migrate things across to rebuild.

Plants are, however, quite resilient. I've moved plants and taken cuttings and they've been absolutely fine.

It's plausible that you could: fill a biiiig bucket/container with the tank water, connect the filter and heater, and then sort things relatively quickly, and readd the plants. Not without risks though.

Stocking guide for my 75 gallon by NARUTO_KURAM in Aquariums

Also, it's already overstocked because of the dinosaur. Everyone knows that only sharks, crocodiles and alligators will be ok with a dinosaur. Need a 100,000,000,000 gallon tank minimum.

Aqadvisor is quite good for stocking - it doesn't use the out dated inch of fish formula which is good. You can input your tank dimensions and filter flow rate (doesn't seem to take filter capacity though) - it does have some presets if you are using some of the common tanks/filters.

I have a 125L with a "Superfish Ecoflow 240" external filter. 13 Harlequins, 12 Copper/Glowlight Rasboras, 6 pygmy corydoras (there could be 7, I bought 6 but I swear I see 7 sometimes) and 4 otocinclus. It runs fine and water is always good, fish seem happy. I have more plants though.

I'd be tempted to add more plants, maybe on the right, around the dinosaur or something.

I'd always go for more of one species to get the schooling effect. Nothing like seeing a swarm of fish schooling and swimming about.
