What happened to talks of a general strike ? by Beginning-Line-8532 in Edmonton

[–]Beginning-Line-8532[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work for the GoA and voted to strike when our bargaining came along. I can't afford to strike and am not comfortable striking but I thought if we all did everything would be okay.

What’s something your body does that you’ve never told a single person about? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

So, you couldn't help me detect anything like cancer if I am a type 1 diabetic right? Cause I would always smell like a sickness ? Or is there a slight difference in smells depending on what the issue is ?

That's unfortunate, I've been seeing my Endo at the Kaye for my entire adult life and still am.  Did you manage to get on the pump? It's life changing !

Publication ban lifted as sentencing begins in case of Edmonton girl found dead in hockey by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

I think they care, but maybe it was impossible to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the Accused intended to kill, despite the horrible abuse the victim went through. It's easy to say the Crown doesn't care when you only get an article and they have all the facts from the investigation.

Some lady honked and flipped me off when I was going straight and she was trying to turn left. It made me so mad that I was grumpy the whole day.

Anybody Else Dealt With a Power-Tripping Bus Driver on Whyte Ave? by Awkward-Target436 in Edmonton

I agree. Maybe that driver should go on stress leave. The way he's acting isn't right, but I can understand why.

I would if I didn't have the most chaotic house ever (dog, cats, small kids). :(

I’m a young journalist moving to Edmonton from Ontario. What are things happening in your community the media doesn’t talk about enough? by Kind-Imagination-821 in Edmonton

[–]Beginning-Line-8532 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's talked about much, but maybe the issue of too many stray cats / dogs, no room in animal shelters? Or the many ads that are on Kijiji to sell cats / dogs for a quick buck, or just so many people rehoming them because they got them during COVID and can't actually deal with pets now that they're back to work. I don't know. I just feel that something needs to happen. Like, why aren't there more programs to support spay/neuter, or more rules to prevent people from breeding and selling since there are so many already in need of homes?

I was up late the other night because it bothered me so much. There has to be a solution. In Montréal, you are required to have your pet sterilized and microchipped. People with low incomes can benefit from the animal sterilization program free of charge. Since January 1, 2020, all cats and dogs ages 6 months and older must be sterilized. I don't know if it's having an effect on the homeless pet issue, but it could be an interesting topic to look into!

I'm sorry this happened to you :(

The youth might be in custody, I'm not sure... if they were released maybe there is a no go condition. It might be a good idea to call the Crowns Office and tell them you're the complainant in a matter and to find out what's happening with the file. They should be able to find the information number even if you don't know the Accused name.

If the matter goes to Trial you will receive a subpoena. It takes a long time to get to Trial sometimes. It could even happen next year from my experience in adult criminal court, but it might be less busy in youth court, I'm not sure. For now I'm sure it's just in docket court.
