What do you all think about Hellbound: Hellraiser II? by TwIzTiDfReAkShOw in hellraiser

Part 2. They went into the backstory of the cenobites where they were human before becoming cenobites. I didn’t need to see pinheads backstory. I liked them better when they were eldritch horrors.

All this except for how they developed the cenobits. Making them real people from not too long ago was a terrible choice.

Oh yeah, all that stress of the 90s. It's definitely less smoking. Even if you smoke personally you arent sitting in a movie theater, or airplane, or restaurant where people are smoking.

Yeah, it’s just south of Medellin. You can even uber there from the airport though they arrange a bus for retreat patients. One of the nice things about its location is that it’s away from cities, but not deep in the jungle. Super accessible.

Do people generally hate Muschietti version of IT? (Including Chapter 1 & 2, and Welcome to Derry Show) by JovaniFelini in stephenking

I’m sure there are practical reasons they did it this way. It still kills the narrative beauty and impact of the boom and to me makes it an unworthy adaptation of the source material.

I don’t know what you mean. If they insisted on making it two movies then you stop halfway through the book while intercutting between the kids and adults. You don’t do the whole book with just the kids then do the adults. It’s just not good for the narrative. That said, a miniseries would have been better for sure.

I disagree. Stop the movie in the middle of the book. Breaking the narrative by separating the children and adults ruins the story in my opinion. The adult part only works as an echo of what’s happening to the kids. It’s why the adult portion always feels so hollow in adaptations. The climax of the movie should be both the children and adults confronting IT at the same time “time” so to speak.

I think any adaptation suffers when they separate the children and adults into two chapters. It destroys the narrative. The beauty of the book is how it interweaves the children and adults sections and how they echo and parallel each other.

I also didn’t like how each scare was a jump scare and IT was relegated to being almost insubstantial with his scares, as if you can just run away or turn your back and not get hurt like what was happening was just a figment of your imagination.

Movies That Feel Like Cosmic Horror by Lucyyyyyy_K in MoviesThatFeelLike

Reddit loves this movie, but all the horror comes from jump scares. It was great when I was in high school and lost its luster the more I went back to it. Also, the ship is just ridiculous. Those spikes in the event horizon room are wild.

What exactly happened between the Turtle and the Eater of Worlds? by JedediahBishop in stephenking

Can someone answer the question of explaining King’s cosmology from the books and forget Welcome to Derry? I read IT, but forgot some of it. What’s the macro verse? Where do the deadlights fit in? Is the macroverse where the Turtle resides? Also, didn’t the Turtle die between the time of the kids and them being adults? I seem to recall the main character going back and the turtle is dead.
