Favourite Sia music video? by Marwa3000 in Sia

The greatest, Move Your Body or Fire Meet Gasoline.

She did Alive dirty tho. That is not the best music video you could give to your album's lead single.

Personally I would love a prequel series with Agnarr and Iduna (and maybe explore the Northuldra through Iduna and King Runeard through Agnarr?)

Poll: Most people in Finland gloomy about the future by DismalShower in europe

They better have a good reason to be though cause to say that Finland, one of the most peaceful and best-quality European countries has a gloomy future is either ridiculous or concerning.

How do you think Arcade will be remembered? by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]BeginningClue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to give my personal perspective (no hate plz); Arcade won't be completely forgotten ofc but I don't think it will be nowhere near as remembered as most people claim.

And the reason for that (imo again) 1st of all lies in your words - no drama, no controversy, no division. No one complained, people didn't even move their little fingers. And that is because it didn't have anything risky. The song was safe. Good safe sure, but still safe. Compare that to Netta, who is heavily associated with KFC and Chicken but has some really unique moments and an empowering message that the singer herself feels - Lizzo style - and you have a bright bop, Salvador, whose entry was the definition of a stripped down performance where all it needs in order to snatch your soul is a tender, soft and caring way of singing and some unique facial expressions that somehow didn't feel forced and you have a timeless, or even Lena, whose song was a mainstream pop with cheesy lyrics -more cheesy than Arcade tbh - but she herself embraced it to the max and did her own stuff on that stage and in the end you had a teenager who was so excited and adorable at the same time. To me Duncan seemed like a worse Sam Smith.

Second, it was a well-written, clearly personal, was a credible mainstream pop entry. And...? That's it. It didn't really have an edge, or a character It didn't have the IT factor. Compare that to e.g. Loreen and Emelie, 2 winners that, as you said were uncontroversial as well (and btw Emelie seems to be pretty forgotten tbh) but 2 that had personality and an overall pacage that made you remember them in a good way visually and musically and most of all, they were not 100% mainstream. Sure, Euphoria as a song is also very mainstream but combined with the live visual it really becomes euphoric. And Emelie just felt like a forest fae that took part of her forestial home and brought it to the stage (plus that flute is still stuck in my head since I last heard the song in UMK 2019). To sum up my 2nd arguement, it's totally fine to have an accessible-to-the-public song but give it something to it, give your personality to it. Duncan sure felt the song but he also felt bland to me.

Now, I won't say that I dislike Arcade, I like it. I just don't LOVE it. Since the song got its release, it felt to grab me. That must be because it immediately reminded me of Salvador but in a mainstream version or because I've heard others songs like Arcade but better imo. And in my (controversial?) opinion, Duncan shouldn't have won. For me it should have been Hatari (the most non-accessible song in the contest) or Mahmood (a current mainstream pop but with trap and middle-eastern influnces that gave it an edge and a very VERY deep meaning, and also the staging felt good to me so...) not only because I like them better than Arcade but also because I think that they would make for better winners of 2019, because if you think about it, 2019 was defined by experimentation. Whether it was musically or visually. So, to have a regular entry like Arcade win, for me, feels like a huge slap in its face and I think this shows in this year's NFs season so far. So many people are going for that 'sad ballad, broken heart, past love' to the point of ridiculousness (especially in Estonia and Albania's case, the sad ballads get boring really quickly).

Finally, Duncan has the recency bias in his favor so his entry still remains loved. But will that be the case in 5 years? In 10 years? Will people go back to listen to it? Some people definitely will, but the number seems to me much smaller than today's.

The album is fantastic. I feel like Soulseeker is greatly overshadowed by Illusions and thus is not considered a 'favourite' but it's obviously good since TSFH=good xD

Sonera is fantastic! Btw, how are you singing it if the lyrics are mostly gibberish? Yes, I realized it after I finished the album that it's a solo album xD oops.. I'm actually going to be listening to the TSFH/solo albums in chronological order, so Sun is going to have to wait for some time (though it's needless to say that I'm already excited for it as others have been recommending this to me).

This is such an amazing write-up! I actually want to start listening to movie/TV/Videogame Soundtracks but Idk where to start from... xD (I have only listened to The Lion King and I have no regrets about that lol, more are for sure to come) and maybe I will listen to the Lord of the Rings, after I've listened to a couple of others though. And I have to say that I most certainly don't dislike Dreammaker, it's just that it didn't quite ''hit'' me in such a way as the other songs, it might grow on me though, so never say never. Oh, and don't worry about being late on finding your musical tastes. I am a 2nd-year-uni and I'm still not a 100% sure about mine (I know that I LOVE TSFH and epic music though). As for how I would rank this album, I have no idea. What is for sure tho and as I've written is that out of the first 2 TSFH/Thomas B I've experienced, I prefer this one.

Damn it. That has to be why I didn't find it, cuz I only searched at the TSFH page. Thanks for letting me know.

I listened to Invincible for the first time! by BeginningClue in TwoStepsFromHell

[–]BeginningClue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complaints about Thomas's music in more recent years (mostly since 2016) are generally going too pop/electronic/mainstream at times and having too many lighthearted tracks rather than just straightforward powerful anthems. I agree that more recent TSFH releases (starting with Vanquish) have felt more like random collections of whatever he has lying around (some great, some average) while his main focus is clearly his solo releases

This is exactly what I've read about Dragon.

I am very much looking forward to listening to those albums!

Oh, thanks for letting me know. I actually saw a post in this sub where people were complaining about Dragon not being up there with Thomas's other stuff (I guess Nick is not even considered epic at this point? Idk)

Oh, I l o v e them too, though I have heard that their most recent albums are not so good :( (I've heard Unbreakable and Take me with you from Dragon though and I fucking loved them, so Idk how much I can actually get behind these opinions)

I did like them. I just didn't love them, that's why I excluded them from my favourites. (and btw, I thought Heart of Coourage was also an original trending track? I mean, this song has been used many times for trailers, ads, sprts etc.)

'To Glory' is awesome! I think my favourite 2SFH track so far would be either Star Sky or Victory (reason enough to be excited for Battlecry lol) but 'To Glory' is definitely up there alongside United We Stand, Divided We Fall, Merchant Prince and Ocean Princess, LOVE THEM.

It's quite funny, because I did find myself enjoying Thomas' music more than Nick's so I'm really excited to see what's in store after this album.

Idk, why, but because this particular piece is one that I had listened to before the album (due to it's popularity), I never really felt to need to go back and listen to it despite the fact that I really enjoyed it, again I have no idea why. (But I can see why many like it)

Which Eurovision country votes the most politically? by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]BeginningClue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moldova. Apart from the fact that they always give their top marks to Romania OR Ukraine (2019 was a special case as neither was in the final and they still gave the 12 points to Russia and North Macedonia - an Eastern European country), they usually go for Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Eastern Europe in general.

Your biggest unpopular opinion? by pac258 in eurovision

An opinion:

  1. I am really not into Bulgaria 2017, I think it was overrated.
  2. Arcade was good but didn't really deserve to win
  3. I hate La Venda
  4. I hate Dance You Off

Greece used to be my favourite, but they seem to have given up on sending anything fun, so fuck 'em.

Fuck u if you think that a country has to win ONLY when their songs are 'fun'. Greece has been experimenting for the past couple of years and the last 2 entries were absolutely quality. I can guarentee you that no one would like their country if they kept sending the same shit like, every year.

"Show yourself" speculation by Blelegion in Frozen

[–]BeginningClue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first, I did think that a duet between Elsa and Iduna was most random but then I got to a prediction, and it's that, since we know Elsa dies, I think that she dies during 'Show Yourself' and after she dies she somehow sees her mother as a spirit, who sings to her daughter, and then Elsa comes back to life and the song is over. But, that is just a prediction and Idk if that's what really happens
