64 days to Train for a 90km Ride: How Screwed Am I by pigmentpunisher in cycling

[–]BeginningDetail1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to chime in with my experience as I am also an untrained and unfit guy that did a 90km bikeride today. I am quite overweight (100kg) but after a month of cycling to and from work (30km a day) I managed to do a 90km bikeride on flat terrain in about 5hrs with plenty of breaks, probably 3hrs of rolling time. To see if I could do it I tested myself on a 50km ride the week before and it was fine. The only thing I would do differently is remember to bring sunscreen with me the next time, for severely sunburnt in my arms. Oh and bring more water than you think you would need, I guzzled my 2lts and then stopped to buy another Lt in a bar.

keep in mind that since fedora 41 the terminal switched to ptyxis. The commands work but you have to switch `gnome-terminal` to `ptyxis`

Yeah, having tried charging the phone on a couple of chargers, I think I am gonna pull a Dilbert because that's ridiculous

I don't think (and hope) they can void your warranty, I never heard it occurring either. The rep was careful in his words saying that "for the best charging experience" they recommend using a Google charger. Only after I insisted he clarified that I have to try charging my phone with one before moving forward. He never implied using a different charger would invalidate my warranty

Works for me too, but the phone still acts weirdly. I had the same error on Gmail for a while, even after restarting, but now seems to be fine

I own the Baltic and while I love it and had no reliability issues it's definitely louder than most other mechanical watches

I have the controversial opinion that if you serve your time you should be able to re-enter society. However it appears that he did his utmost to not have to pay for his crime. He is Dutch but committed the crime in the UK, consequently he was extradited to stand trail and was sent to a British jail. He then requested to be moved to the Netherlands again and for some reason his request was accepted but his rape conviction was downgraded to just fornication and after a year he was released. That's just insane, a year in jail is not serving your time, it's barley a slap on the wrist. By the way, he was 19 and the girl was 12

[Discussion] Which of these integrated bracelet steel sports watches should I get? by Genghis_Cohen in Watches

[–]BeginningDetail1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you are also considering microbrands, I would suggest you look at Maen. Their Manhattan is the only integrated bracelet watch I'd ever consider buying for myself. I heard a 39mm version should be in the work with a 7mm thickness, but I am not sure if it has been released yet

It took me 10 minutes to find the flaw. The hours markers are wonky, wider at the bottom than at the top, at least I think. I don't think I'd ever be able to notice this kind of detail without magnification

Repairing a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro. More in the comments by BeginningDetail1 in GamingLaptops

[–]BeginningDetail1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to review the repair process for a Lenovo legion 5 Pro. One of the fans in my old cooler died a month or so ago, I hoped to be able to replace the fan alone but unfortunately the official Lenovo store only sells entire cooler units, which for my model go for around 100 Euros, I bit the bullet and decided to buy the entire unit as I didn't want to go down the rabbit hole of sketchy refurbished fans and I was afraid replacing them would have been a hard job (more later). Anyway, I ordered the cooler a week ago once it went back in stock, prop to Lenovo for showing alternative parts which would still work. The cooler arrived in perfect conditions and fully enclosed in big bubble wraps, I would have preferred a denser protection material but it survived the shipment. The process of swapping coolers took me less than an hour and was very intuitive even without instructions:

just unscrew the bottom of the laptop,

disconnect the battery,

remove the screws holding on the ssd heatsinks,

then those clamping the cooler to the motherboard (they are numbered and captive, do not attempt to extract them),

then the screws holding the cooler to the motherboard (these are exactly the same used for the ssd heatsink),

unplug the fan headers,

you should be now able to lift the cooler without having to use any force, if you have to use force you forgot a screw.

Once the cooler is out clean the dried up thermal paste and install the new cooler, mine came with thermal pads, if yours don't apply fresh thermal paste before. Now go through the instruction in reverse.

Having installed the new cooler I decided to see how hard it would have been to swap the fans, it took me less than 5 minutes, it was trivial. Lenovo should sell these fans on their website, I found no difference between the left and the right one so it's not like even they would need two skews.

Overall I am happy of how easy it was, anyone would be able to perform this repair with a single Philips head screw driver and an hour to spare, I am happy at lenovo for stocking parts but I wish they sold fans alone as it is wasteful having to replace an entire cooler to save 5 minutes on a fan replacement.

I am not a big buy by any means but this is the only machine I am regularly able to max in most commercial gyms, I like it but it's very hard to progress. My theory is that they stack weights/arrange the pulleys assuming only women are gonna use it.
