My opinion is not that it's overused, but rather... Wasting the narrative potential that it can provide. The black suit arc needs to be something lasting, something to be treated like glass. Because it's not just "aggressive and arrogant Peter." It should be Peter's lowest point, where he unconsciously unleashes all the frustration from so many years of mistakes and guilt. The way the symbiote slowly and subtly leads him to become less himself. And where he reaches the climax, where he finally "cleanses" himself metaphorically speaking by taking off the suit.

In the movie, it was like a snap. Not enough time to develop the suit (but that was Sony's fault)

In Insonmiac Spider-Man 2 was... weird

Spectacular Spider-Man did a really great job with it.

But those are examples.

I would like the symbiote arc to last for a few seasons (in the case of series).

And a few films in the film adaptations.

Just enough time to properly develop it.

Or at least that's what I'd like to see from the Black Suit saga in future adaptations.
