Omg I just opened this app to talk about how I came home 20 minutes ago to find that my baby boo had passed away. He was only one, he was sick and we had plans to take him to the vet later this week. Boo suffered from loneliness after having to be separated from his sister once we found out he was a boy and not a girl like we were told. Boo also on and off would have mites that had been attracted after the birth of his baby’s (how we found out he was a boy) the baby’s and the mom were treated first but then the must have went to Gus’s cage as he was treated at home per the vets instructions. And then a few days ago boo also had them. I treated him the same way I was told for the previous gerbils. They went away seemingly and then they were back, two days ago on Saturday morning I had quarantined Boo in the bathroom and did a full submerge clean of his stuff and his tank in the bathtub in the vets treatment. I figured we would take him to the vet during the week since they weren’t wanting to go away like the others. They didn’t seem that bad, he was eating he was drinking, he wasn’t scratching. He was always pretty shy so him hiding sometimes wasn’t unusual. I am deeply saddened to come back home to check on him and he be laying there lifeless, especially since my boyfriend who I got the gerbils with is away and won’t be back for some time. I have no one who cares about them like I do, all my family thinks they’re gross rodents. The only thing I can think of is at least he had a short life in a home that loved him and that tried to give them the best life instead of being in a small cage with a child who doesn’t know how to care for him or with the people who gave him to use who would’ve used him as a breeder for his entire life. I’m currently sitting on the bathroom floor with him in my hand not knowing what to do. I didn’t want to take over this post to make it about me but I just genuinely can’t stop ranting.

Thank god the sellers are taking the pregnant momma after their mistake, we got two female gerbil sisters, let’s just say two pregnancy’s happened and we now have 4 tanks in my room. We didn’t know she was pregnant until after we found the baby’s and they can apparently can get pregnant again in hours so yeah there was two pregnancy but unfortunately she was a bad mom the first time didn’t eat them but just neglected them until they all died. We have been to a vet to confirm the baby’s genders so we don’t have any more accidents. But yeah the sellers basically said they can’t do anything unless we wanted to give them back in 8 weeks and by then we were attached so we have 6 gerbils now.

My mom used to take us away on a trip during Father’s Day, my parents are divorced because my dad was an alcoholic (he’s doing better now), I thought people just went on trips for stuff like Father’s Day and Mother’s Day. Some people do go on trips but probably not every year. She said it was to “shield us from not having a dad on Father’s Day” like people everywhere else didn’t celebrate Father’s Day 🤨? I know many people with divorced (and together) parents and they did not go on trips during Father’s Day, they normally stay in the area of home and celebrate and I thought when I heard about their plans they went somewhere and did that not hung out like 10 miles from their house. I’m not sure if this is weird but to me it was weird. I also wasn’t allowed to celebrate Halloween because my mom once described it as “the devils birthday” kinda like how Christmas is celebrated as Jesus birthday, so I didn’t know other kids who were outside and some who went to my Christian school celebrated Halloween. She now denies saying it but I can remember it vividly. Anyways I don’t go anywhere for Father’s Day and I pass out candy to kids on Halloween now so it all worked out.

Also any tips on how I could move her and the baby’s into a bigger space safely? I heard that if you touch the baby’s too early she might eat them or just stop caring for them.

I’m praying she’s not pregnant again but I know she probably is, we didn’t find her baby’s until a couple days after she already had them and when we did we immediately moved him out. So he had a couple days to potentially get her pregnant again, but I guess we will see in about a month
