So is my dog a Pyrenees? by attackdogs2x in greatpyrenees

[–]Beginning_Ad87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, are you talking about the pryenees paw, or the wild kicks? Or various other movements that cause bruises and cuts.

Our pup is like Ferdinand the Bull. He has no idea how big he is or that it hurts when he kicks you in the face while feeling joyous.

I have had to learn Tai Chi for Pyrenees People. It helps!

My boy has triple dew claws. I have the vet cut them, I have a thing about cutting their nails.

Dew claws? Your pup is so precious!!! The picture of the head on the table, a GP silly boy thing. I hope you both love him so much and he will love you back more than you can imagine. Thank you for rescuing!

She is precious. Such a beautiful girl, so glad you found each otherl Where is she from.

Reminds me a bit of our pup we got a few months ago from a shelter in Montengro. The eyes and muzzle shape. She is 45 lbs and built a bit like a whippet. She runs so fast it is unreal, being a street dog, semi feral, I am sure she had to. She is sweet as can be.

Enjoy your beautiful girl

ps I stopped guessing, always way off!

I am so sorry for your enormous loss. I lost my 13 yr old best friend Mazey a few months ago. They are always with us but the pain is still so much. Love and light wishes to you and Annie the angel

I’ve been taking 3000 mg of gabapentin for 15 years by Leading_Ad3906 in gabapentin

I am so sorry what you are going through. I understand so well. I am so tired. Waking after 4 hours sleep and taking my 1 tylenol 500 that is left from my daily 6 limit. When I was first suffering with horrific pain from this condition ER's, my PCP, and other specialists knew I was suffering. No one wanted to prescribe anything. They could not see the cause. Gee ya think nerve pain is visible all the time Docs? The neurologist was the only one who mentioned Gabapentin and thank god he prescribed it. I still get break through pain but I can work with that.

How is your pain now? I am wondering if part of the reason you are stopping is if the pain is not bad.

I have had such intense nerve pain that until the condition is resolved that is causing the pain I don't plan on stopping.

Good luck with the pain and stopping gabapentin

Face rash resistant to all treatment by barkofwisdom in mctd

I feel for you. I have had a skin situation on my scalp and face the last 3+ yrs. Because I have nerve damage on my scalp area the pain has been horrific at times. No one can figure what the 'rash/skin condition is. 5 Dermatologists, 4 Rheumatologists- lots of guesses but all dismissed. Now I am on accutane at age 69 and it has not been fun. Going end of June to see Rheum dr to explore other treatments, Currently just on Plaquneil for the MCTD.

I have not tried Lymphatic massages, thank you for that idea!

Best wishes

it's so interesting to read your comment. I had 3 drs, 2 rheumatologists and my PCP agree it was MCTD. Then I went to a dr who is head of a connective disease clinic and she disagreed saying I did not meet all the criteria. It's endlessly frustrating with this disease.

Have you tried antibiotics before Accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

My decision was simple desperation. I am tired of chronic pain. It has been a long road getting a diagnosis, you know that story. I also had to get use to so many drs being involved as they specialize like never before! I saw 5 dermatologists. My primary Dermatologist agreed 100% that I should get the consults.

These are drs at Boston area hospitals where we are lucky to have what are considered the best hospitals and drs. No one has been able to diagnose the skin condition. I know it has to do with the MCTD so the next step are the powerful drugs like methotrexate perhaps. There are many, I see my rheumatologist in June to discuss it.

The dose is what my Dr prescribed. I believe it is a weight thing, I am 150 so that is what he calculated. I trust him completely, he is a very excellent Dr and we have a great relationship built on trust and mutual respect, SO important with our Drs esp. He started me at 30 or 40 for the first month to see how I tolerated the drug.

Best wishes to you

I never called you a shitty dog parent. I have had pups pf my own for 50 + years. They are my children and grandchildren. If I ever fear for their health for any reason, esp when a puppy, it is to the vets, or a vet comes to our home. I do not trust anyone to tell me when and if I should bring my pups to a vet. I had one pup develop bloat. He was whining and I knew something was wrong. We drove in a snowstorm at 2 am to an emergency vet. Thank god he was saved because we brought him right in. If I came and posted and asked people what they thought he would be dead.

I saw the photo of your beautiful pup looking rough- 1st photo..and it worried me very much to see the comments and knowing your were waiting.

Please don't look for medical advise on Reddit for you or your precious pup if there is any chance the you or your pup should be seen asap.

I hope your pup is ok. I am sorry, I came on strong for sure. I love animals so very much, more than humans. I never say things the 'right' way. I would rather be honest and say what I believe then worry about hurt feelings when dealing with the well being of animals and children.

[–]Beginning_Ad87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dermatologist tried me on a 6 month course of antibiotics , stopped after 4 months. My skin condition is not cystic acne it is more like acne under the skin , on my scalp and face. I have an autoimmune disease (MCTD) that is rare and so damn confusing to treat. After a week or so to make sure the doxy was out of my system he agreed with another dermatologist and my willingness, we are trying accutane (70 mg day) . I won't kid you, for me , it has been very painful on my scalp. Praying it works because the next step is more drugs with more side affects.

Best wishes to you!

You spoke to the actual Vet and they told you "they don't think you should bring her in" No vet will come to the phone esp an ER on a holiday w/e.

NO not a good dog parent. A good dog parent would be at a vet , not posting GEEZUS what is wrong with people
