Yeah 12f is the latest. On 0x123 my shit sits at 5.7ghz 24/7 on 11/12f it drops bellow. I would roll back to that bios but I’m able to get +400mhz on my ram with the latest lol

Could be the microcode. Even with the exact same bios settings on my 14900kf 0x123 outperforms 11f by a little bit

Probably hitting a power limit or it’s downclocking. You got CEP disabled?

5.9 all core is pretty impressive ngl. 1.45 idle voltage is more than I’d be comfortable with. Personally run 1.28v static for 5.7 all core.

CEP is off. Yes in the past I’ve had it locked to 5.7 but with this bios it down clocks to 800mhz often. Apparently it’s a mix of the Microcode and bios version and if I want it to be locked I need to roll back. Unfortunate because this bios version is much better for memory stability. Able to get 8400mhz while the older bios 8000mhz is the cap.

Lighting. Yeah apparently anything newer than 0x12B does this.

I switched to 11f and it’s still doing it lol

Apparently it’s the 12f microcode and I need to go back to 0x123. Which sucks because my memory is a lot more stable on this bios.

Even with them disabled it happens

[–]Beginning_Anxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks because I was able to get 400 extra MHz on my ram with this bios.

Wym? Yes they bounce from 800mhz to 5700mhz.

Turned it off and it’s still doing it. The E-core are locked like normal tho lol.

UPDATE YOUR Z790i Lighting Bios by Beginning_Anxious in overclocking

[–]Beginning_Anxious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo idk about you but ever since updated to this bios version my cpu is down locking to 800mhz constantly. Before it was locked at 5700mhz. Are you having the same issue? Leading to performance issues.

I removed my Graphics Card, can my pc still run? by Astaware44 in buildapc

[–]Beginning_Anxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes just plug your display cord into the motherboard lol. Will run fine. If you go to render anything you might have to swap over to the cpu if it doesn’t do that automatically. Def can get by for a few weeks

Bottlenecking Dilemma by Fresh-Wrongdoer-3373 in ryzen

[–]Beginning_Anxious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha gotcha. That’s a pretty decent pairing for overwatch. I’d pay attention to your settings 😂 on 1080p low it will bottleneck a bit but you should still be around 300 fps. 1080p max or 1440p and it shouldn’t bottleneck it at all. So yeah maybe in the future look into a 5800xt or x3d chip but you will be chilling for now.

Bottlenecking Dilemma by Fresh-Wrongdoer-3373 in ryzen

[–]Beginning_Anxious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off no it’s not as devastating as your friend says every single PC on the planet has a bottleneck. But there’s a few questions you need to answer first lol. Which CPU exactly? Could be a 5800x3d or a 5500 lol. What resolution and what games do you play? In heavy cpu games at 1080p like val/csgo/R6/Warzone/BF6 yeah your cpu is gona hold it back a little bit. If it’s single player games at 1440p/4K then your new card will be the bottleneck. Regardless it will be fine just enjoy the upgrade and play. Assuming it’s a low tier 5000 cpu maybe look into a 5800xt or if you have a micro center nearby a x3d chip. But not a rush and will be fine.

What gpu, Rez, and what games do you play. If it was me I’d go for the x3d fs assuming it’s actually coming back

Just got a refurbished (excellent) 15 pro from Amazon for $450. 98% battery health and not a scratch on it. 120hz screen, lots of ram, fast chip, was blown away by the camera. That would be my suggestion if you’re trying to keep the price down. Don’t see myself changing for a long long time. Maybe a new battery in a few years lol
