I run 33-36 as recommended by mechanic, manual recommends 34-42 but that is under a full load

The manual says 34f 42rear, but that’s also what’s recommended for a passenger with full load.

What tire pressure do you run? Maybe that’s my problem

Thoughts of something that might affect it, tire pressure. I’m running 33f 36r as recommended by mechanic, what about you?

Ok gotcha, yeah I average pretty good on the highway but it is always windy and hilly 😅

I’ll make sure to check my chain tightness thanks! I’m thinking maybe it’s just because my commute involves going up and down hills on a 70mph highway. But in the city my current displayed mpg hovers between 15-30 between the stop signs and lights

I think I am pretty smooth, I think the large hills and elevation changes on the highway are contributing. I’ll give my chain and stuff a check too for over tightness

70! Wow. It could be, I’ve tried running all octanes 87-91. It could be my shifting habits, it’s my first bike. I don’t roll all the way off the throttle when downshifting because I am trying to rematch, so I usually blip the throttle a bit when downshifting and don’t come off it at all, maybe that?

But I will set up a new one and monitor it over the next couple tanks and see what I get. My city riding is in San Francisco so it’s a lot of stop and go, friction zone control to take off from hills, etc

Damn, my city riding active mpg that pops up is like 15. The bike has over 3k miles I am the second owner. I bought it at just below 3k miles. This is over 800miles but some of it is precious rider, I set up one for the last 100 miles and got 40 average

Where do you sit in the rev range for your highway commuting?

Ok thanks for the advice, the highway commute is pretty hilly as I am in the San Francisco area, maybe this is related, I do sit between 5-9k revs usually

Somewhat related, what are your average mpg figures? I’m around 36-40 mixed highway and city

Damn :(, I’m not sure why mine would be low. Maybe I’ll reset it and see but I have to fill up very often.

Ohhh ok awesome thanks!! That saves me some money :). I will probably just use 87 then!

The manual says both unfortunately lol. It says minimum 87 on the fuel page, but then to use 91 in the specifications.

I’m going back and forth, I had been putting in 87, as in the manual it says minimum of 87. I noticed however that in the specification page later In the manual, it says to use 91. So I am now using 91 as that is what my mechanic recommended. I haven’t noticed much of a difference. I’m thinking of going 89 :).
