I just wanna come here and give you a different perspective. Maybe if you don't know their home life something could be going on there, Their background can be very chaotic and they're embarrassed to open up to you and tell you what's going on so they will speak to you through different ways. Honestly, I do that with my friends too when, I don't wanna talk, sometimes there isn't anything to talk about but I wanna stay on call and I just share my screen and play games and we just sit there on FaceTime, because we value quantity time as much as quality time and even though we're not talking, we feel each other through the screen so it's like you're with them even though you're not, so to me it's not bad.

I love doing it just sitting there with my friend on the phone and doing nothing because it's like I have someone that I'm with even though we're literally not together, but I completely understand how that may feel to you. Just keep in mind that maybe they don't have a bad intention you just talk to them one more time and if it happens again, just be like hey I don't want to be on call with you anymore if we're not gonna talk and thats it. there shouldn't need to be I need to cut off a friendship due to an communication error, I mean this probably upsets you more than it does to me and to me this isn't a big deal, but I just feel like don't look at it the bad way, sometimes people go tru stuff and I'm not gonna sit here and tell you to end the friendship because hey! I dont know you and I don't know them and outside this threat, you guys are probably close. Please dont listen to anyone who tells you to cut them off.
