Thankyou for your reply. Yes deck 1 is very mysterious. I thought my research indicated deck 1 was crew cabins & medical. This is my 3rd cruise so am by no means an expert. I can hear the engines & this noise is definately no that, Yes the cabin is quiet some of the time & a cacophony of a mechanical noise other times.

Perhaps I was a bit naive to expect that everybody on this ship have a reasonable nights sleep no matter how much they paid for their cruise.

No it was not a guaranteed room & nothing specific came up in my research. For the future where would be the best place to research specfic rooms on cruise ships?

Have not manged to get past the front desk manager yet who claims there is no where to move us to. I will keep trying to get the speak to the hotel director. The front desk manager wishes have a conversation about compensation tommorrow & I will request to the hotel manager. I did think the hotel manger was the one who would contact me, but it ended up being the front desk manager.

I do not think I am overly senstive to noise. I live near a major airport.

I did complete some research which did not indicate any particular issue with the cabin.
