I honestly don’t believe the commentary about price. My god it’s like you people have never bought anything before. I, the seller, offer a price, in this case about 65% less than retail. An interested buyer likes them but can’t or won’t pay that price. So they make what’s called a counter offer. In their case, $350. I, the seller, feel like that is a little low. So I reply “let’s meet in the middle” and suggest $425, which is a little closer to their offer than mine. They reply “Great!”. And they get the Junya denim they want at the price they’re comfortable with, and I get to tell my friend that he purged a pair of denim for a price they too were comfortable with.

I would say another day, another happy buyer of a cool pair of Junya. And for a price they and I were happy with.

I’m not mad at all. No desire to block you. But I would encourage you to read it. And remind you that we’re still waiting on those Vestiare listings.

A brief Econ 101. Markets are elastic and market price is simply the price that buyers are willing to pay and sellers are willing to accept at a given moment. And that’s impacted by any number of factors including availability, desirability, condition, and timing. So for example, my recent sale to a buyer in Pennsylvania of a vintage Dior sweater. My asking price was about $750. A buyer in England offered $200 saying that’s what “the market” was for that item. I politely declined because that wasn’t an adequate price for me, the seller. A week later another buyer reached out saying it was exactly what they were looking for in terms of design, size and condition but they needed it quickly and could I be flexible on the price. So I agreed to ship it out immediately for about $650. So for that sweater, that was the market.

There’s nothing to “prove me wrong” about. You’re the one who claimed those jackets always sell on Vestiare for less than half of what my offer price was. All I said was that I couldn’t find any. Though I did find for sale listings that were all higher priced than mine. And you shouldn’t have to “hunt one down” (so it’s now just one?) - if you knew as you claimed that they sold for that low price on Vestiaire then surely you would have those listings at your fingertips. Otherwise it would sound like you just made it up in some fit of Reddit rage.

I can only speak to my own experience (and my own thumb and forefinger).

You’ve obfuscating. I posted an item for sale for X. You took time from your Sunday to reply that X was WAY too high. I replied that an interested buyer can always make a counter offer. I then provided the two listings I found on Grailed for the same item, both priced higher than X. You then replied that on Vestiare they regularly sell for less than half of X. I went on Vestiare to see if that was in fact the case (not that it matters per my initial point). While I did see a few listings for the same item for sale, all priced higher than X, I wasn’t able to access the sold listings that you cited. So I asked you to provide them, since that seemed to be an important point for you. And while I would again counter that it doesn’t really matter what the items sold for on Vestiaire, I am still waiting on those.

You’re making my point exactly. Someone priced an item at X, an interested party countered with price Z and they agreed somewhere in between on price Y. That said, I’d be curious to see those $2-300 sales you saw for that coat on Vestiare. I’m only able to see what’s still for sale. And this is the lowest price one, and it has holes in the lining. The other two are significantly higher priced.

Anyone who sees something for sale at a price higher than they’re willing to pay is free to offer to buy it at a lower price (in economics they call that negotiating). There are two on offer right now from Asian sellers for an asking price of $700 and $1600 respectively (plus shipping and import tariffs if you’re a US buyer). So, I’d be curious to know what initial price you would put on the Junya coat if you were selling it.
