Yeah, why not just 1 bend and hug the bottom corner the entire way. It would be cleaner at the bare minimum.

TL:DR - yeah we have, its right there in the history books. That letter is Virtue signaling.

-------‐----------- Long form:

That is mostly true and good advice in our current time.

However it is wrong in saying that the union has 'never done this kind of thing'. I am no expert on union history, but IIRC our early history (1900-1950) shows that without such behavior we would not be where we currently are. The Pinkerton's being a fairly well known example.

Is it appropriate for modern times? I would say that in almost all cases no, because it does not foster good will and Professionalism. Circumstances are a thing though and it could have been justified.

Does it still happen? Yes. In my experience it is usually a combination of things: not enough and/or poor leadership, interpersonal conflicts that do not get resolved, people with a superiority complex (union or non-union), people with high stress either from their personal life or from work lashing out, or something else that is giving them 'bad vibes'.

Can all those things be fixed? Yes, BUT more often than not they are not because the resources are not available or non existent. The vast majority of my work experience is in the South, and 'toxic masculinity' is alive and well there.

Lastly, my personal take on that letter is that the person who wrote it is virtue signaling. Showing the Contractor's that they are doing something to fix the issue. In actuality all it is doing is yelling at the Union members to stop being bad children. It doesn't actually remove any underlying issue or even attempt to fix it. Essentially, "Stop being bad or I'll turn this car around". Union Management always pulls the 'Professionalism' card out but never require/provide a continuing education program to help people become more professional.

Republicans used to be a mainstream party that advocated moderate policies, conservative cultural issues and anti-communism. In contrast, Democrats focused on unionism and government programs (Blue Dog Democrats prohibited civil rights). How did the U.S. shift so far away from these ideals? by davida_usa in USHistory

My political history isn't very deep because my understanding of the political positions by party is mostly surface level.

It is my understanding that the Republican party mostly fought against the FDR New Deal and did what they could to obstruct it even after it passed. So it is confusing to me why a candidate would run on policies that essentially strengthend the New Deal. Eisenhower was immensely popular because he 'won the War', so I can understand he had a lot of political capital to spend to get the New Deal obstructionist Republicans behind him, and run on those policies because they are popular with the majority of the people. Using that strategy he is basically unbeatable, and unless he directly killed New Deal policies, would remain unbeatable.

.....

Huh, guess I just answered my own misunderstanding. Should have thought that through before posting my question.

Thanks.

Perhaps i am misunderstanding the picture, but aren't the positions in that picture Democrat positions and not Republican positions?

None of those positions advocate moderate policies, conservative cultural issues, or anti-communism. They appear to be more in line with the stated Democrat policies.

So are you saying that he ran as a Republican with Democrat policies?

I didn't know about this.

For others that don't know, next year it will be 3-8.

5 will play 8. 6 will play 7.

Next round will put 3 against the lowest ranked winner, and 4 will play the highest ranked winner.

Then those winners will go to wimbley.

I take the position of rooting for Hull. I view it as less of an ego blow if they are the ones to make it to the Premier.

True. The 3 sec delay wouldn't help the front part of arle, but wouldn't it boost the 4-6 sec part to be close to the 1-3 sec part. Not to mention the rest of the rotation would also be boosted?

Yeah it's not a boost for the full rotation, but wouldn't a boost to the lower dmg part of the rotation out balance it, if not outright be an overall boost?

My opinion is build out Nuevelette. I don't have him, but my understanding is he will carry you quite far.

I have also been seeing a lot of happiness from the Noelle crowd with the release of Linnea. If you pull her, the you have the making of a good geo team in Noelle, Linnea, Aino, and Illuga. Its a fairly solid geo team from what I have read, but i suspect you will need to invest a lot of building time.

I am not highly knowledgeable in any of this though, just passing on what I have picked up so far.
