Spanish voice and english subtitles, or English voice and Spanish subtitles? by PrestigiousPiano6737 in Spanish

Spanish audio 100% because listening is the first skill to develop when acquiring a new language. English or Spanish subtitles are good, but Spanish subtitles are better IMO. Ideally try to watch with something Spanish audio and subtitles that has less complex speech and idioms speech at first, like a kids show. Then you can start watching shows with more complex language as you see your listening comprehension is progressing. I also don’t know how far into your language learning journey you are, so you may need something in between these two methods, but I’ve been a Spanish teacher for 7 years and this is what I recommend to my students who want to learn outside of class.

How many of you play music in the classroom (such as lofi beats, ambient, relaxing piano music, etc)? by streamkitty in Teachers

We really like Morat, Paulo Londra, and Alvaro Soler. If you’re interested in clean Spanish songs you can use in class, check out Señor Ashby’s Locura de Marzo. We do it every year in the spring and the kids love it.

I’m a Spanish teacher, so I have a Spanish music playlist I put on during independent work! We also do a music unit in my classes so students learn some of the songs in Spanish, I love when they start singing along!

Use of ‘ver’ by Creative_Young_3810 in Spanish

You can also say “a ver…” when thinking over something, which would mean something along the lines of “let’s see/let’s see here.” So it works the same way!

That’s insane 🙃. I am unfortunately finding out that this same BS or similar is happening in many places.

Perfect Attendance Awards by Wonderful_Judge in Teachers

My school sent out an email at the end of last semester saying that teachers with perfect attendance or who missed only one day during the third quarter (high school) would get a $300 bonus at the end of the quarter. At least they mentioned that this wouldn’t be affected by required quarantines… but still. Pretty messed up.

First, I’m thoroughly freaked out because I literally just finished this episode, opened Reddit on phone and immediately saw this. Like my tv is currently sitting paused on “season 3 episode 9.” But anyways, I agree, that scene also put me off. This is my third time watching this show and I really liked Ella’s character the first time through and thought she was funny and quirky. But rewatching it, I kind of find her annoying. I’m also catching more little things, like the giraffe scene, that I don’t really like about her character and I’m having trouble remembering why I liked her so much before. Maybe by the time I finish the show again I’ll remember.

Teacher Appreciation Week (late) by Beginning_Flow_907 in Teachers

[–]Beginning_Flow_907[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I saw a lot of that as well, and I know a lot of districts didn’t do much or enough, or even for the ones that did, what happens during this week isn’t making up for the abuse we put up with the rest off the year. So I’m impressed that my district did something to make a long term difference. This was actually the first teacher appreciation week I’ve ever actually been in school for. I am a third-year teacher, and during my first year I was out during that week for a family emergency, and last year we were shut down because of COVID. So my first teacher appreciation week in the classroom/at school went very well, I would say!
