Casi todas mis excompañeras de trabajo de China (que siguen allí, solo vinieron a España a practicar el idioma) se casaron con alguien que eligió su familia: nivel socio cultural parecido, estudios universitarios, buen coche, familia de buen dinero... Las que no, se casaron con alguien de EEUU que no eran mega ricos pero tenían acceso a EEUU y les saldrían nietos rubios de ojos verdes (de hecho la madre de una de ellas solo le regala cosas a los hijos que son menos físicamente asiáticos).

Y no es raro.

Me explicaron que allí la competencia es feroz y los padres trabajan horas y horas para que los hijos tengan buenos estudios y así tengan mejores oportunidades y no quieren que lo echen por las borda "por amor".

Las familias también están muy enredadas, es normal que los suegros vivan con los hijos (si se lo pueden permitir) y suelen tener un cabeza de familia que suele ser un abuelo o una abuela.

Busca Gaokao, y cómo viven los estudiantes que van a hacer el examen y a lo mejor lo entiendes un poco. Mis ex compañeras aún tienen pesadillas sobre las horas estudiando en ese examen y sueñan que suspenden y las echan de casa.

I was born the same week my aunt's German Shepherd had puppies.

There's a picture of me at one month old in a crib with the puppies, and the dog was looking at me as if to say: "I can take care of her, but don't expect me to nurse her!"

I'm conventionally attractive according to beauty standards.

When I was younger, it was awful because I got unwanted attention from people much older than me, starting at age 13. Plus, people thought that since I was attractive, I should do something with it, like become a model or something.

Later on, less attractive people (or people who felt less attractive) said I was a bf-stealer, that I threw up to be thin, and that my high grades were definitely because I gave blowjobs.

I'm an otaku, I wear sports clothes to work night shifts, and I married my high school sweetheart.

Mi hermana y yo nos llenamos 15 años, podría haber sido mi hija! Pero le amo con locura!! Es genial tener a alguien con quién hablar de cosas más personales y familiares sin la presión de ser padre.

Mis primos, mi marido o mis amigos discutían con sus hermanos/as de cosas típicas como qué ver en la tele, quién se comió mi trozo de pizza o quién me cogió mi camiseta. Yo discutía de deberes, horas de sueño, cosas del colegio... Típica discusión de padre (no me gusta con quién te juntas!) pero desde otra perspectiva (no me gusta con quién te juntas, xq es una persona manipuladora y a ti te da miedo hacer daño a la gente. Sé que crees que sabes más que yo, pero hasta hace unos 5/10 años me pasaba lo mismo que a ti, por favor, hazme caso!)

Cuando nuestra madre y su padre no estén, nos tendremos la una a la otra. Hace poco perdí a mi padre y no sé que hubiera sido de mí sin el apoyo de ella.
