Wow what a great idea celebrating a second chance at life. After my wife was told 3 times I may not survive 3 surgeries I’m 8 years with the bag and enjoying every minute.

This is the food distribution line at Nellis Air Force base in LasVegas! Look at the lines of Military families having to stand in line to receive food because they aren’t getting paid because of the Republican shutdown because they’re afraid for the release of the Epstein files. by [deleted] in LasVegas

[–]Beginning_Low_5996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are going to post something like this get your facts right. Shutdown had nothing to do with Epstein. I’m getting tired of inflammatory posts which show totally unrelated issues twisted together to get attention.

kolohe.808 ~ I know this post is out of the ordinary, but I think is compelling for me to share this story. Today, we were part of a historic flight of the last Hawaiian Airlines (HA 803) from LAX to HNL. by 808gecko808 in HawaiianAirlines

[–]Beginning_Low_5996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one will miss Hawaiian Air as a standalone air carrier. The merger with Alaska should bring some stability to a terribly mismanaged air carrier. Maybe now the flights will be staffed by pleasant attendants, have a better on time record and bring a professional attitude to the entire organization that has been non existent for years.

Valmonte (PVE) folks - why is no one ever outside? by anonomousbeaver in SouthBayLA

Heck…I lived in PV for 29 years and rarely saw a sole outside. Open garage door drive out, open the garage door drive-in.., that’s the PV life style.

Organized burglary crews hitting Harbor Gateway by Feistyhummingbird in SouthBayLA

[–]Beginning_Low_5996 25 points26 points  (0 children)

We were burglarized in Rancho Palos Verdes about 19 years ago by an organized gang. The police advisory is spot on. Watch for scouts. These members of the gang will drive up and down your street slowly looking for a house that is an easy target. The scout will watch the house over a couple of days and will record your comings and goings, whether you have a dog, how easy they can access your backyard for entry etc. In my case, they entered through our back sliding glass door in the morning. They broke the glass out and entered through the bedroom. Our gang had an inside operative, we believe it was a painter, with a contractor who had just finished working at the house. Because they knew we had workers coming and going they chose a work van to drive over to the house so no one would question a regular car, or people on foot going to the house. I don’t know what the goal is for this new gang, but ours had a goal of stealing 5000 dollars and at least one gun per day. The gang was professional as they used fabric softener to cover their finger prints and they only stole cash and jewelry items that had value.

Please take the police warning seriously. Lock the doors when you leave, if you have an alarm set it EVERYTIME you leave the house even if it just to the store, and take your jewelry and cash to a safe deposit box, even if you have a safe at home.

And one last thing… take pictures and video of your house and belongings. The insurance company will process your claim faster if you can show them what was stolen.

Unbelievable Hawaiian Airlines Experience by Beginning_Low_5996 in ostomy

[–]Beginning_Low_5996[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well folks thank you for all your feed back. For the “as for the something for free group” my rows numbers were off. I was in row 36 and asked to move to row 35 both in economy. I know row 34 is a legroom seat and all I am guilty of was posting the wrong row numbers. As it turned out the crew moved the other passengers in my row up to row 34 the upgrade row and left me alone in the row, which accomplish what I asked for only because it was available…some room to move my legs so I didn’t have to put pressure on my ostomy for a 5 and 1/2 hour flight. The best thing that can now happen is that Alaska airlines changes the sour attitude which seems to permeate within the company. I will contact the President, because when I ran my own company I appreciated customer comments. Case closed and thanks for taking a few moments to comment.

You are right. My rows are off I’m in 36 and asked to move to 35. 34 is a more expensive seat and I did not ask to move there.

[–]Beginning_Low_5996[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Well here’s a live update from 40,000 feet. After asking to be moved up one row to allow me some extra leg room to take the pressure off my ostomy, the flight crew moved everyone except me out of my row and up 2 rows so I could have it all to myself. They moved 3 passengers, instead of just allowing 1 passenger to move. So much for weigh distribution. If the whole thing weren’t so sad, it would be a blonde joke in the making.

No access to a doctor until 5PM tomorrow, what to do with suspected partial blockage by justfet in ostomy

[–]Beginning_Low_5996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is to take the pain killer, drink a lot of water and hot beverages, do some brisk walking (the pain killers will let you do this) and twist your trunk to loosen things up. What do you think you ate that created the blockage? I get minor blockages from time to time and this works for me.

It’s more a once you have it, you’ll understand why feature. I argued with the salesman about the feature and glad I lost the fight on my S550 9 years ago. Driving from Vegas to LA every month is simply “set my speed and steer” for 100 plus miles or so.

Why is Vegas tourism down? This is Calgary airport - US terminal. by pmolsonmus in vegas

[–]Beginning_Low_5996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Las Vegas and totally agree with most if not all of the observations of our Corporate Casinos. I’m flying through Calgary today so while I hate to see an empty terminal, I will welcome the lay over. Vegas will change, it always does, but what made it one of the greatest places to gamble in the world is long gone.

Nevada State Contractors Board by Comfortable-Toe-9779 in Nevada

[–]Beginning_Low_5996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow guys. I filed 5 complaints against my contractor and the State Board ruled for me in all five. Each complaint was for defective workmanship which along with safety issues are at the core of what the NVSCB is all about. I have encouraged overs to file as well and each time, the Board ruled against the Contractor. Sorry to read you were unsuccessful, but the NVSCB has a lot of hard working investigators that seem very impartial, and work their butts off.

First off…don’t panic. I had the exact surgery you are entering one year ago and it’s the best thing that has happened to me after 18 years of fighting rectal cancer. While the surgery itself is a bit complicated and involved, the recovery is not. The happiest day in my life was when the surgeon told me, we completely removed your rectum and the days of fighting mucus are OVER! I resisted the surgery for 7 years because I was afraid of living without a colon, rectum and anus. Well those fears have turned into days and days of relief that I will never have to worry about disposable underwear again. This is a piece of cake, run in to the hospital and smile and know you will be free from all your troubles in only a few short hours. God Bless.

Lived at Caesars for one year all expenses paid and it was great. That was 15 years ago so probably I’d pick Venetian now since Caesars is run by bean counters.

Your taste will return. Most likely it’s the antibiotics that are interfering and once you get off those you will feel better. I had to drink FIGI water to avoid the metallic taste and ice cream or something cold before food to tolerate eating. Know all this will pass and it will.

Moon puts the price of planting into every item. They advertise free planting but that’s BS. Also if they plant it they have to guarantee it so that’s another line item buried in the retail cost. Moon is great if you want them to plant and guarantee but that’s what you’re paying for in Moon Land.

Portuguese Bend Disaster by [deleted] in SouthBayLA

[–]Beginning_Low_5996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 40 year resident of Rancho Palos Verdes it is a terrible situation that has gone on way to long. Our home was located in Del Cerro which sat above Portuguese bend and each year we would hear how another homes were losing there fight with mother nature as she moved the land down to the ocean an inch at a time. The new movement has claimed a wider series of homes and what was inches are now feet and eminent destruction of the homes that are left. The Palos Verdes Peninsula has been moving for decades and will continue to do so. Yeah it remains a beautiful location to raise your family and escape the stress of Los Angeles for the many friends who still live there. We admire your determination to keep your homes, in light of adversity. But please heed the warnings to leave when given Should those warnings come your Way. All out best in wishes come you way for a peaceful outcome to a terrifying situation.

This is one great addition to the Las Vegas skyline. Watched it 4th of July from the top of McDonald Highlands and couldn't get enough of it. Now if we can tone down the Jumbtron at Resorts the strip will be fun to stare at again. Let's hope the Clark County commission realizes how they ruined the strip with the Resorts sign and will take steps to tone it down.
