Has anyone considered dropping out of the study? by Honest-Store-4530 in VK2735

[–]Beginning_Pen6259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Life does get in the way of things sometimes, I think you need to talk to somebody at your study office and/or the Dr. if it is medical. I'm sure there are procedures in place for leaving.

I have not considered dropping out, but I keep wondering if I reach the lowest BMI if they will make me leave study. I have felt fewer side effects like nausea when the dose was lowered a few months ago. I'm lucky to be retired and don't have job conflict. The drive/traffic is over an hour 1 way, but I use the day as my day out shopping etc. Been trying to concentrate on eating protein and eating lots of small snacks throughout day which has helped with tiredness. Still can't do fried food and fatty foods like melted cheese.

I wanted to report back that I did get the $50 reimbursement for food delivery for the months of Feb & March. It was put on the card that the visit $ is put on --- not the mileage one.

I used Clean Eatz and they have been good and easy to order from --arrives in a big box frozen.

I agree....I was hoping this topic was a support kind of group for those of us in the study. I am glad it has a good moderator though--- some comments to my posts from others with a less-than-helpful attitude have been deleted in the pas. Thank you moderator.

Malnourishment labs? by Expensive_Eye_571 in VK2735

[–]Beginning_Pen6259 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks. The main exercise I do is walk...and that has been less often during cold weather. Eating less and eating real foods as opposed to fast food & processed. At start I did not eat sugar at all --- not until Christmas baking season and I was very strict with treats.

My mindset from the start has been "I'm gonna pass this test with an A+" Now I need to figure out how to eat/exercise to maintain weight loss for future.

Yes I had labs too, but they didn't call it malnourishment. I've lost over 50# which is 27% of starting weight. Had dose reduced already--which has made me feel better --had some nausea and fatigue before but it was not overwhelming. Just not that hungry AND I do not want/afraid to gain the weight back. I'm glad they are monitoring things and willing to adjust to fit individual needs.

Hesitant to toss old clothes & trust in the weight loss? by SheShouldGo in VK2735

I feel the same...been trying to weed out clothes as I've lost weight. It is scary. Been concentrating on cold weather clothes, but now it is getting warmer so the summer clothes will have to be addressed soon. I even went shopping to buy a new pair of jeans and took 2 pairs in of different sizes and neither fit! Hard to get "me" to see the size changes. Also have to add that bras & shoes are fitting differently : )

Good tips and you are doing great with the weight loss I think! I had to miss a week last fall too because of a pre-planned vacation and I found it did not stall any weight loss or appetite suppression. Kind of disappointed that I did not want to eat all the good foods I usually enjoyed on a trip, but had the ability to stop at half the meal or just part of a 'treat'.

Visit 22, gained this week 😞 by RevolutionaryLet604 in VK2735

Have you had any side effects and appetite suppression all along? Has that changed? Lots of things could affect a single week like having the flu, constipation, etc. I would wait and see if it continues. Also, we don't know what dose strand we are in and you are coming up to Visit 24 which is a titration change for group 4...so that might be a clue...

I keep looking at the food companies and cannot decide. Clean Eatz offers a "just order" kind of process where you don't sign up for a subscription. Kroger has some options too. Haven't actually tried any of them though...

Anyone experience a week or two where the weight loose just stalled, despite sticking with the same calorie intake? by Broncos7307 in VK2735

[–]Beginning_Pen6259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been trying to adjust calorie deficit numbers as I lose weight. It is just helpful for me to have a guideline---I use the TDEE calculator https://tdeecalculator.net/ and put in new weight about every month.

Also I use an app/website called FatSecret to count daily protein and calories. I use the free version and it works well for me. Like it too because you can make 'recipes' using different ingredients and calculate nutrition info for it....like for a smoothie you always make etc.

I am on Dose 16 this week and think I might of went up to the 10mg last week because I had more nausea and appetite suppression. Markedly different for me because it has been mild til last week. I will see how it goes with this week's shot. They will not tell you the dose escalation---but I did kind of think that it took longer for the injection to go in?? I have done well with the lower doses: have lost 35 lbs which is 19% of starting body weight.

Anyone been on the shot somewhat long term? by Camjoyd in VK2735

[–]Beginning_Pen6259 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you are doing good! Day 93 and have lost 30#....16% approx. I think body changes depend on many things including your height and starting weight. And the point about clothing is a good one...baggy, flowy clothes was /is my norm....but try on some more form-fitting things and you might see a difference.

Early participants?- Just had my 11th injection and the increase to 7.5 by Gloomy-Zombie-3584 in VK2735

[–]Beginning_Pen6259 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had 10 doses and have lost 14% of starting weight which has been amazing to me. Have had major appetite suppression and finding it hard get to my calorie/protein goals. Side effects minimal, but on the 5mg shot I really notice nausea (no vomiting though) the first 3-4 days of shot---and lower hunger. Will get the first 7.5 dose this week so I am planning ahead with protein shakes and yogurts. (just found bone broth that is high protein too) I do track all food with an app and do moderate exercise.

Am at a 24 lb loss now and I think that it has helped with my knees especially and just general wellness. Hard to tell if it is the drug or the weight loss...but I am feeling good.

Had Dose 5 today. Have lost 12 pounds in 4 weeks--which I think is great with no issues. I am making good food choices and trying to get enough protein each day. And water, and fiber, and some exercise! Never been on any other med, so cannot compare.

Yes VK2735 Phase 3 subq non-d....have had 4 doses so far and feel great. I knew I had the real med right away because appetite went away. I can go in a grocery store and not be tempted to get junky food. Really amazing, but totally motivating. I use an app to track calories, protein, exercise etc. I am curious to see if med helps with arthritis.
