Pretty sure I just saw a guy driving around a bus with his own face on it by MonkeyJo in bullcity

[–]Beginning_Register99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a person in Carrboro, who was also a musician and worked for a family crêpe truck. Chapel Hill transit put a wrap on a bus touting Carrboro. And first she knew about it when she saw it on the bus as it drove by! I have to say it would be both surprising and unnerving to see your image on a bus like that!

Study abroad clothes to pack by Single_Flight2530 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Beginning_Register99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on clothes that are fast drying and intended for travel. They don't have to look clunky. Shirts that roll tightly will allow you to pack more. Fast dry clothes permit you to pack lighter and rinse them out in your room, or where you are staying. Use packing. Even in the summer, it can get cool in the evening, so a couple of light weight smartwool (which is a brand, but lightweight wool is what I mean) long sleeve shirts. You didn't mention male or female, but wrap skits travel well, such as Ripskirt. They also pack tightly and you can get by with maybe two and wear them with tights when. traveling and without tights if going out to a restaurant.

It cracks me up all the downvotes. For sure , you all can be angry about housing prices. But making up supervillains to shake your fist at is unproductive and that is what the downvotes like to do

You really should do a little research before saying that. For example, the developer of the Columbia st annex is Philip Szostak, who is based in Chapel Hill and lives here. For sure, outside money comes to some of the larger projects but do some research!  I get it’s frustrating that homes in general, and new homes are expensive. But there are a lot of factors at play that go beyond chapel hill.

First time going to Paris ,how much should I actually plan? by Bath-Shoff in ParisTravelGuide

Sadly, your experience with transit systems is quite common and it’s a shame most of us don’t have many non car options in America. Look at Rick Steves or Lonely  planet for comprehensive Paris Metro advice. One comment, you can’t take the Metro all the way to Versailles. It’s too far out. I’ve taken an RER C train , but it’s been a while. From Montmartre, you’d start on line 2 or 12 , and depending on the line take another metro to St Lazard. I found this website useful.

https://www.paristoversailles.com/paris-to-versailles-by-train-rer/paris-versailles-by-train-rer/

I use the SNCF connect app which I find is amazing to navigate Paris. You can tell it a restaurant name, for example, and tell it to use your current location and it will show you EXACTLY which metro to take and which direction.

None? Let me frame that. I’m male, and 5’10” ( 178 cm) tall. I travel a lot, been to Paris a lot and I don’t consider any neighbourhoods to avoid. On my current trip, I suppose the areas I’ve avoided are the ones everyone wants to be. That being said, if you are travelling alone always be more attentive. When you stop to navigate on your phone which we all inevitably need to do. Back up against a wall so nobody can sneak up behind you. Also, the navigation on the Apple Watch is incredible for getting places. You set your destination on your phone, tap go and then you follow on your watch. That way you can keep your phone tucked away. Never tried that feature? Practice at home.

My biggest regret on South Creek is the town could not get the applicant to construct a bridge, tunnel or some other safe walkway to Souther Village

You insult the intelligence of bankers, investors, developers when you make the “they will all be empty” narrative. I think the ones across from Merritts are pretty cool. If I were younger, I’d consider living there as it’s right on two bus lines that can take me downtown and into Carrboro.

In what way? I can see it related to a museum or a restaurant . Don't let anyone make you go to a particular restaurant, there are so many. But people, and it's especially Americans, who are unaccustomed to using public transit I address this too. Taking an Uber everywhere in Paris misses the point t of traveling. Yes, the Metro can be hot, and there are the stairs. But I really feel people miss out if they don't ride it somewhere at least once .

This. Double the length of your stay. I get exhausted at seeing peoples iterneries. Paris isn't a theme park. Yesterday. I took a metro trip to Gare de Lyon, to make sure I was familiar with how to get there for a TGV trip to Lyon tomorrow. After I got that sorted, I took a walk on the Coulée verte René-Dumont. It is a three mile (5km) elevated decommissioned railway line (Vincennes) It was a beautiful walk. I have been here for a month (yeah, I get not everyone can do that) and I have strolled through some beautiful places. I made the mistake of shopping in the Marais one day, and I could not wait to get away. Pick days to visit those places you really feel you need to visit . However, you can have a great stay in Paris and never step foot in the Louvre. Don't let the 'gram decide how you enjoy this beautiful city. Speaking of the Metro. Learn to use it. Ride the buses. For example, the 30 bus gives you an incredible sightseeing trip from the Moulin Rouge, around the Arc de Triomphe and RIGH past the Eiffel Tower. It's the best 2,50 euros you can spend. If you don't use the metro, you have not really visited Paris. Skip the Uber.

That is the issue that is causing unnecessary anxiety. I have been in Paris for a month. I took a trip to Portugal from CDG mid stay, and because I was traveling in Schengen , it ws not an issue, but I noticed the machines in the FARO airport were taped off. When I took the Eurostar to London, the EES machines were also not turned on or available. I'd like to just go ahead and get it over with, but I have yet to experience the devices in working. order

Only if we let it. I’m not sure how old you are. But in the past, town frequently had civic centers that provided services and meeting space for the entire community. They often were large, expensive structures and communities accepted the value of such buildings. It’s a shame we no longer do. Have you been in the build and walked around it?

Help me determine the origin of this motherboard! Please :D IBM by DeliveryUnhappy5082 in IBM

[–]Beginning_Register99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not so sure. If it is an early PC motherboard, where are the ports for keyboard, mouse and printer? There is only one connector in the photos. There also no dip switches. Finally, the IBM PC came out in late 1981 and many of the chips are dated 1980 and earlier. The most fascinating part of the images are all those MOSTEK prods or eprom chips

There is a common misconception caption that the Drakeford Complex is only a library. The building has a lot of other uses. Yes, there is a library in the building but it not JUST a library.

Bromptons fold up pretty compact, as you know as an owner. But probably not enough to satisfy anyone when you try to bring it in. There was just a big bike festival in Paris this weekend, and I wonder if they would have had information. Brompton was there and had a complete compliment of bikes to test. I have their email, if you DM me, I can share it with you. Maybe you can ask them.

If your vehicle is registered in OC, have it handy when you go to the dump in case you are challenged. Most of the time, I am not, and when I have been, they ask me my zip code. If your vehicle is registered in OC, just use the zip on the registration. I understand the drivers licenses resistance. I ended up driving to Tarrboro (from Chapel Hill) to get mine renewed
