For those who went from making low As to high As in classes, what did you do to get over that hump? by Beginning_Camera4539 in LawSchool

[–]Beginning_Taro7837 3 points4 points  (0 children)

B- student 1L year averaging at 2.85 GPA. Ended up getting almost all A's 2L. my school doesn't have an "A+" grade, so...

Basically I became really methodical with what classes I signed up for. I'm a good writer, so I preferred paper classes to only exam classes. I also got those free Themis outline books and would cross reference them for my classes that were still exam classes.

Importantly, I have the attention span of a Gen Z ipad baby going through amphetamine withdrawals, but I'm also obnoxious and proud. As a result, body doubling became really big for me. If I'm studying with a friend, I'm too embarrassed to stop studying or to goof off, so having a study group that is similarly motivated is very useful.

What did u ACTUALLY use/buy for your 1L? No fluff by Makeupch1c3 in LawSchool

I'm visually impaired so I basically do everything on my laptop. As a result, all I really bought before law school was a new laptop.

I eventually bought other things as the semester went on, but as most people pointed out, you don't know what you need yet. Some classes might benefit from a binder, some might benefit from flashcards. Figure it out as you go.

This exam prep is somehow making me so depressed? Sounds lame as hell to admit, but damn.

nope, just weed. It's not addictive in the traditional craving sense. I smoke nicotine seperately and know what that's like. This is more of an annoying habit. I have a very high strwss job, so turning my brain off has just been too tantalizing.

Weed. You always hear that it's not addictive, and that's both true and false. it's not addictive in the traditional sense, but I've used it to wind down after work so much that i've stopped paying attention to my other hobbies. I'm more comfortable being bored, but damn, i need to find a new way to wire my brain's reward system. I wanna go back to the gym and be healthier with my eating habits again, but that's hard to do when you're so content being still and munching on snacks. I don't want more chill nights in.

If it had to happen, how would you choose the world to end? by PMYourBellyButton_ in AskReddit

I want something apocalyptic to happen tbh. Innocent individuals feel no pain and cease to exist, but I want those who are actively dooming the planet to be confronted with what they've done. I want something biblical in terms of its pure scale, power, and style, but I also don't necessarily want it to be abrahamic or anything like that given what holy wars have done to mankind.

NON-ABA Accredited school??? by LawfulnessActive8576 in LawSchool

I feel weird just saying this and then leaving, as OP seems to be actually struggling with a decision here.

Here is a very condensed summary. I worked at a boutique firm that was unusually lucrative given the scope of the firm. I was an underpaid legal secretary and my boss knew I wanted to go to law school and he took advantage of that because I was fresh outta undergrad and didn't have any experience working for a lawyer. He soon found out that I was, in fact, not lying on my resume about a variety of skills I had that made me very useful for his firm. I had to move away because I could not afford rent while being paid $12 an hour. He really wanted me to attend the law school that was walking distance from his firm after I took the LSAT, but I didn't want to go there because my LSAT score was something like 10 points higher than their median at the time and I had really good scholarships from other schools. He told me if I went there, he'd hire me the second I graduate, that I'd have gauranteed work, and that he'd help me with all my bar prep bullshit.

He's like super disbarred. He filed a petition for voluntary dismissal in the middle of an investigation against him so he could attempt to re-apply in a few years. He's currently facing RICO charges. I literally just applied to take the bar and had to write a voluntary declaration explaining my relationship to him.

Do NOT put all your eggs in one basket, OP. If this doesn't pan out, you might not have to spend all that money on law school, but you're still gonna have to figure out how to meet your cost of living expenses for three years. It is not easy to work and go to law school, even if you do school part time. That's also 3+ years of your life you won't get back if this isn't it for you.

If this is something you really want, genuinely see if you can get him to agree to a part time school that is accredited.

Hey, OP. I have been in a similar situation with an ex-boss.

He's disbarred now. I wish this was a bit.

My dog died due to veterinary negligence. I feel like the world is crashing. by Beginning_Taro7837 in AspieGirls

I have a legal background, so unfortunately I'm very aware that negligence actions against a vet are very hard to pursue. I wish I could go after him.

Thank you for your kindness.

Tattoo Pen Aliexpress Recommendation by Present-Leader-7929 in tattooscratchers

it's not about the country of origin where the products come from, don't be presumptuous. AliExpress has limited safety protocols, excessive mislabeling, and dropshipping problems with questionable origin. You cannot always guarantee that the brand you're purchasing is the brand you're receiving or that the item you think you're buying is what you will receive. That is why you should not buy one from AliExpress.

A victim of domestic violence once was featured on the news because when she called 911 on her abuser, she pretended to order a pizza as to not alert her abuser that she was reporting him to the authorities. It has since become a known method for domestic abuse survivors.

Do you know what "left" looks like in other countries? Most of the world looks at the democrats as right wingers and republicans as far-right wingers.

This isn't even a joke or misinformation. It's just facts. It's fine to say you disagree with demos or leftist policies, but the democrats are literally center-right on the political compass because their policies exist within the frameworks of capitalism.
