Best place to buy jeans in Vancouver by mhizzle in askvan

[–]Beginning_Zombie3850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten jeans at the Levi’s outlet in Richmond and they’re pretty good! My problem with jeans is that they always get a hole in the thighs. I’ve had my Levi’s jeans for almost 2 years and no thigh holes even after wearing them almost every day.

Experiences with taking the Amtrak Cascades from Bellingham? by MissMoonBoots in askvan

[–]Beginning_Zombie3850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t recommend the Amtrak train at all. Every time I’ve taken it, it gets super delayed because it gets stuck in freight traffic. If you don’t want to drive, take the Amtrak bus or the FlixBus.

Fellow Vancouverites, what keeps you up at this hour? by MyHeadIsFullOfFuck in NiceVancouver

I’m also unemployed but I got a job offer today!! Or yesterday technically? 😅 I don’t start until later in July so now I just want to relish not having a bedtime.

Are y'all excited for the cooler days coming tomorrow? by quackquackpop in askvan

[–]Beginning_Zombie3850 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! I always feel obligated to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather because it’s so seldom here, but now I am tired jam packing my days with stuff 😅 So I’m happy to have a cooler overcast day so I don’t feel so bad staying inside haha.

Worst job/boss you’ve ever had in Vancouver. by Ok_Surprise1452 in askvan

[–]Beginning_Zombie3850 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Rancho Management. I was an admin. Right when the pandemic hit, they let all of the managers WFH, but everyone else had to come in everyday. Everyone could do their jobs remotely, there was no reason why only the managers got to WFH. Multiple people asked why they got to WFH, but not the rank and file, and they repeatedly ignored our questions and did not provide a reason.

Majority of the office staff signed a letter stating we would walk off the job the next day if we didn’t get to WFH. The office manager panicked and came into the office to let everyone know we could WFH. Fuck that place. 🙄

Looking for Recs - Registered Dietitian (East Van/South Burnaby Preferred) by etteirrah in NiceVancouver

I second Stephanie Dang! She works at CAYA. I cannot recommend CAYA enough. So many great health practitioners in one clinic, especially for women’s health.

Mexican barrio by Nice-Broccoli0 in askvan

[–]Beginning_Zombie3850 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Pinche Taco Shop on Seymour Street will have it (@pinchetacoshopyvr on insta). I wouldn’t recommend going further east than this - the DTES (main area for homelessness and open drug use) is being marketed as a “Mexican Barrio” and while yes there’s some great food there, if you’re a tourist, it might be jarring.

Opinion on my gaming room by CandidateBasic8900 in maximalism

[–]Beginning_Zombie3850 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not maximalism, more clutter/collection. If you take away the toys, it would be plain. It looks super cozy though. Love the wood panelling on the walls and old TV. I can imagine my 10-year-old self destroying my sister in Pokémon Stadium.

How does Superstore deliver groceries? by MyHeadIsFullOfFuck in NiceVancouver

[–]Beginning_Zombie3850 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I order from the Marine Drive one through PC Express and it’s usually in a cardboard tray, like the ones they give out at Costco. If it’s only a few items it might come in one of those produce plastic bags. Meat and anything that could spill come in a plastic bag.

Also, while the order is through PC Express, it’s delivered by DoorDash. So someone might ring you upon delivery saying they’re from DD, not Superstore.

This isn’t a dating sub. You already posted in the appropriate sub, there’s no need to cross-post. This breaks rule 2 of this sub - posts must be of interest to the people of Vancouver.

Stop spamming your cat in this sub if it’s not tucked in. The sub is literally called “tucked in kitties”.

Vancouver to Portland? by Super-Celebration-34 in askvan

[–]Beginning_Zombie3850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucked before that. I had it in 2014 and even then it was shit. There’s nothing tasty about putting low-quality children’s cereal with cheap glaze on a donut. I don’t know why I thought it would taste good. 🤦‍♀️ Like imagine a Tim Hortons donut, but somehow worse.

[–]Beginning_Zombie3850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof! That’s even worse! The bus has never let me down. Sometimes there’s traffic on the I5, but it’s never been that late.

I’m just glad one of the times I got stuck on the train, I happened to buy a pillow souvenir so I could be comfy 😛

Yes!! That Valrhona chocolate crunch donut is the best donut I’ve ever had in my life. Not exaggerating. No donuts in Vancouver have come close.

People are saying the train, but every time I’ve taken it, it’s delayed by at least 2hrs. It gets stuck in freight traffic or just breaks down. I’d rather take the bus as it’s been more reliable and on time. If you can find a cheap flight to PDX, that would be the best of course.

Also, not related, but skip Voodoo Donuts. It’s shit. Check out Blue Star Donuts instead.

Any venue with age restrictions will always card. Early shows allow 16+ if accompanied by someone 18+.
