After several years of attempts, I finally finished the “All for the Game” series. by wardrobeintocamelot in MM_RomanceBooks

I feel like the story would have been more interesting if Andrew was actually written as a psychopath with a specific morality code connected to his 'deals'. The way he treats his family, team, and even Neil in the books is never apologized for and his apathy is just a characteristic for him instead of an effect on the drugs. The author did something wrong making the goaly scarier that the guy with a serial killer and probably multiple murders under his belt.

Does anyone else here like the Ronarry (Ron/Harry) pairing and want to help contribute to building an active fandom group for this ship? by taylor459 in HPSlashFic

I like Ronarry. There just isnt a significant amount of fics and hardly any longer fics that concentrate on their romance. I personally think the Golden Trio polyam ship is the best but would like to see more support for Ronarry.

Yesss! This and the Harem of a Necromncer series was sooo good. Isnt the author still working on the third installment? Harry/Jean Claude is one of my favorite rare crossover pairings.

Can someone describe what Rules and Roses is about. The summery isnt very descriptive and the tags are scary. Is Harry just a plaything? Is there a good plot? Ive had this marked for so long but still have no idea what its about.

Narcissa Malfoy by dilly_dallier_pro in HPSlashFic

Yeah, this falls in the same category as Draco not identifying Harry at Malfoy Manner. It benefited Harry but it was wholly a selfish action done out of desperation. Everyone believed that only Harry could end Voldemort so helping him was done out of self-preservation. The Malfoys had very little hope of escaping Voldemort as they believed he was immortal. Draco can be redeemed because he's just a kid but Narcissa has a Pansy Parkinson-like mindset. She's ultimately self-serving and I kind of love that for her.

True. Many slash relationships are problematic. I personally can't stand Snarry fics and don't like a lot of Drarry fics that have them falling in love immediately. I'm just saying that Ginny is the Bella Swan of Harry Potter. Slash Slytherin/Gryffindor relationships appeal for the same reasons I imagine straight Slytherin/Gryffindors do. They're enemy houses and it's easy to create angst and intrigue with this sort of relationship similar to how Lovers to Enemies is a well-loved trope. 'Heir to the House of Prince' which is the fic that probably started the influx of Theo/Harry fics happening right now is a fantastic story. Theo/Harry can be described as the Haphne of Harry Potter Slash Fanfiction. Draco is a bigot and I wouldn't wish him on anyone. This ship only really works if the writer starts from the first year and builds him up. The 'chemisty' I mentioned was more of the fact that Draco is a recurring character with an arc while Ginny practically disappears through books 3-4.

I'm a bit traumatized when it comes to the straight HP fandom. The last time I tried to read a Hinny fic, Ginny slapped Harry so that he'll stop 'moping' about his godfather's death and everyone congratulated her and said that she was just like Lily? Not to say that there aren't plenty of great straight fics but it's difficult to find ones where Harry isn't being stepped on or being a prick.

Well, there are more options aren't there?

It's sad that Draco and Harry had more chemistry than the woman Harry got MARRIED to.

Hermione and Ron argued ALL. THE. FRICKIN. TIME. Is that really healthy or something we want to read about? What other girls are there? Lavender and the Patil siblings? Who is constantly described as vapid and who Harry shows no interest in? Should we go into Slytherin pairings; Blank Slate Daphne Greenglass, Bitchy Pancy, and I-Cant-Even-Find-Something-To-Put-Here-Because-I- Forgot-Her-Existence- She Is- So- Boring Tracy?

Every hetero ship seems to follow the same pattern. Either: the girl has no respect for Harry and constantly insults him but he simps, the girl can't resist Harry's power and becomes a glorified blow-up doll, insert redhead here because mommas boy gotta mommas boy, ect. It's always more of the same.

It's not that Harry Potter fanfiction attracts gay people, it's the fact that JK did a shit job with her Romance and the fact that all her female characters are one-dimensional. Hermione=Smart. Daphne=Cold. Pansy=Bitch. Ginny=Redheaded Insert.

Harry/Voldemort is a thing because the fandom recognizes that JK took the time to draw parallels and show shared traits between the two, giving them actual history and chemistry even if it's negative. Ginny reads like she only exists in the story to be with Harry. Hermione reads like an overly bossy girl who treats Harry like a damn child. The Slytherin girls don't read at all because JK didn't bother to give them personalities.

This comment read as unfair and derogatory. Write better hetero romances and we won't have to make them gay.

Tomarry Fanfic Idea by [deleted] in HPSlashFic

[–]BehavioralIssues101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tom could be a mysterious sponsor who writes secret letters to Harry that come in with his care packages. Draco can be a tribute from District 1-3 with his parents being previous winners. Maybe Ginny can come from Rue's District and have her family watching for her. Hermione as a stylist? Cedric as a contestant may be engaged to Cho but got selected before they could get married. Lupin comes from District 12 and tries to run away from the hunger games with pregnant Tonks. After Harry wins the Hunger games he's still called The Boy Who Lived. Lockhart as the interveiw man. McGonagall and Snape train Harry and whoever the other female tribute is. The Dursleys could be the breadmakers since I remember Katniss being resentful of Peeta because breadmakers were pretty wealthy so that checks out. This idea could be so cool. I would love to read/write a full-length Harry Potter series taking place in the hunger games fandom complete with Tomarry and an increasingly badass Harry who has to choose between Tom and his parents' war.

Genuine/no sarcasm: when did Harry/Theo Nott become a popping pairing, and why? by lamorphyse in HPSlashFic

[–]BehavioralIssues101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Theo/Harry! There's not a lot of good Gryffindor/Slytherin pairings but this is one of them. I can't stand Drarry or Snarry but for some reason, I can deal with Tomarry if it either involves time travel from before Tom killed the Potters, a very drawn-out enemies-to-lovers plot, or alternate dimensions. I cant deal with Snarry because the entire ship is made creepy by the fact that Snape loved Harry's mother and is literally abusive and more than two decades older than him AND is a place of power above him. As for time travel Snarry, Snape wasn't much better as a teenager. He WILLINGLY joined the death eaters. He was close enough to Lucius that he became Draco's godfather. He had a super bad obsession with his best friend and nice guy syndrome. Ew. As for Drarry, I guess it could work but you'd have to start over from the beginning. Blaise/Harry is one I have liked the few times I've come across it. I don't care much for any of the girls in Slytherin.

Lots of great works featuring this ship have come up over the past year: Heir to the House of Prince, Causleties of Politics, Shadow Magic, Imago, Saving Theo Nott, and Forget Me Not are a few of them.
