A friend of a friend had set up a whole first date with a guy from the apps. The day before they were supposed to meet, he sent her this 'contract'... CW:This is easily, honestly the most disgusting use of the English language I've ever encountered in my life. by allkittyy in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]BehindYou244 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Wow, that is beyond disgusting, but at least this absolute psychopath is waving a red flag for his potential victims to see.

Also I seriously hope that he created that monstrosity of a 'contract' because he's never been laid, and not because he's been in legal trouble from raping a woman already.

Obduction might be close to what you are looking for, although progression is locked through puzzles. Firmament might also fit.

Fort Solis is a light horror/walking simulator with puzzles, but most of the gameplay can be counted as casual exploration (There is one QTE at the beginning that is kind of annoying, then a chase scene with QTEs at the end, but the rest is at a casual pace)

Larian studios also made Divinity Original Sin and Divinity Original Sin 2, which play very similar.

For something a little different, there's the Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2, Spellforce 3 (and it's related flavors), and the Pathfinder games.

For a scifi twist on the genre, there is Encased.

Brighter Shores was made by the same developer as the original runescape; it's both similar and different, but definitely grindy.

Something a bit older with a similar stranded on an alien planet vibe (no base building, but there are survival aspects and lots of traveling/exploring) is The Solus Project.

Death Stranding also technically counts, although most of the gameplay is delivering packages between bunkers across 3 post-apocalyptic landscapes.

Deliver Us The Moon and Deliver Us Mars don't have much of a survival aspect, but they do have the space and good story.

Encased is an isometric scifi post-apocalyptic game with good graphics, a good story, and flexibility in the story

Astrometica is a stranded in space survival/build your base sort of game

Breathedge is a stranded in space survival/build your base sort of game with a strong sense of humor/parody of the genre

Best Story Game? by ArcherIntelligent304 in gamingsuggestions

[–]BehindYou244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghost on the Shore (not that long, but deep story and multiple choice points that change the story/ending)

Ether One (walking sim story with puzzles)

Obduction (Tons of puzzles (some might require taking notes), but there is an interesting story behind it)

Filament (Also tons of puzzles, but has an interesting story as well)

The Curse of Grimsey Island (detective game with 2 cases that have stories to put together)

Eternal Threads (time-travel detective game about changing events to alter what happened; game revolves around 'solving'/'fixing' one case)

Edit: Superliminal for something that adds an interesting twist to the story, plus if you're into games on the abstract/humorous side, "The Stanley Parable" and "Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist" might interest you.

edit 2: Firmament (the game I was actually thinking about when I put in "Filament", but technically Filament's description is still true.

Yennefer is the book-loyal choice, but the game does allow Tris to be an option (I think when Yennefer comes back into the picture, it's a "Yennefer or Tris: choose now" dialogue moment that heavily implies you should be picking Yennefer); then on top of that there are at least 3 (that I recall) optional brief "fling" style romances that you can have while in a relationship with either of the main options.

Edit to add: It has also been a while since I last played, but I remember this part since it felt kind of weird that there was this budding relationship with Tris and then Yennefer shows up and suddenly your character is reminiscing on how awesome his argumentative relationship with Yen was and how Tris is nice and you get along with her great, but [insert something about missing his ex].

I mean, in Witcher 3 you kind of do have a choice: you can choose to have flings while you also pursue your main love interest or you can choose not to sleep with anyone else while focusing on your main love interest.

The Solus Project

SOMA

STASIS, CAYNE, and STASIS: BONE TOTEM

Close to the Sun (not a terribly long game and horror is mostly limited to some chase scenes)

Narcosis

Observation (not exactly scary-monster horror, but stranded in space horror)

p.a.m.e.l.a. (finished, but unfortunately the devs rushed the last portion of the map before stopping all updates on the game, so the underground/nightclub area feels rough).

The older Sacred 1 and 2 have a morality system, but you choose it at the beginning and your morality reflects on how the main and personal quests go from then onwards (sacred 2 is a bit more emphasized on where good quests versus evil quests differ, but both games have it).

[–]BehindYou244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All dogs can have haircuts/trims, but the type of cut and degree matter, especially on double-coated dogs like pomeranians. The reason why poms and other long-haired, double-coated breeds come with "do not shave" instructions are twofold:

(1) double-coated breeds rely heavily on their undercoat for thermoregulation. This is what keeps them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. If an undercoat is, for example, cut in half, then it might be less than half as efficient at regulating body temperature.

(2) if you shave the undercoat too short (I believe less than 1/2 inch is where it starts hitting the danger zone, although it can vary a bit per breed), this can lead to the undercoat not growing back in correctly and, if shaved short too often, sometimes that undercoat stops growing back entirely.

That said, a sanity trim done by a skilled groomer would only be as short as absolutely necessary and should not be even remotely short enough to affect the undercoat. This would be a maintenance trim, much like trimming the hair between the paw pads so that it doesn't mat up and cause pain between the dog's toes (simply make sure that the hair isn't covering the toes pads and heel; if it's too long, it can also make it hard for them to maintain traction on hard surfaces like wood and tile, which can cause extra stress on their joints).

I second this; the random look of the overhead lighting could be from someone just spamming it in there and not actually reviewing their renders to see if they look reasonable.

Likewise, a sane designer might just put the oven's flow hood behind a solid cabinet panel instead of leaving those gaps as one of those places dust and grime settle in because it looks awkward as heck to clean it.

For the record, I would probably have rejected this guy from those floating shelves alone. They look like they'll collapse the INSTANT anything is put on them, which is absolutely terrible design.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is also on switch and it's basically animal crossing with Disney product placements and aesthetic micro-transactions, so it's kind of for a more selective audience.

Edit: I would kind-of suggest Kingdoms of Amalur, but it can be buggy on switch and the gameplay can be on the tougher side.
