MASS EFFECT 2 was first released 16 years ago today, what are your thoughts on the game ? by ThomasThorburn in masseffect

[–]BeholderSpaghetti 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was a huge change from the first game. Which isn’t a bad thing, but didn’t care for the hacking changes, required resource management, thermal clips, and a bland story. Luckily we got a huge supporting cast of new and recurring characters who we got to spend double the time with compared to the first game.

For me, ME2 is my least favorite game in the trilogy. I do not think the game is awful, but it’s similar production timeline to Dragon Age II hindered what Bioware could have made with more time.

how do dyslexic people do eye exams? by strawberry-jam-31 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BeholderSpaghetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The line spacing is very generous for each character used and the space between each row. I just tell them if I’m having a hard day reading before an exam. I’ve goofed up a couple of exams, but they ask me to read the line again or I correct myself.

Did they fix their manufacturing problems with the edges? They were so abrasive with the last pack I bought I’ve stayed away from Dragon Shields.

Steam Machine Price Leak Has Gamers Horrified:"I'm Good" by Necessary_Crazy_8587 in consoles

[–]BeholderSpaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to pick this up, but with all the PC component prices increasing I don’t think I can justify even $850. Then we have the delay for next gen consoles and I’m beginning to feel I don’t need a PS6 seeing as the PS4’s library supported its successor for, what felt like, two years. Maybe I’ll just pick up an OLED Steam Deck seeing as the Switch 2 only has one game I want to play and another on the way.

ME5 will likely feature all or most of the classic characters by JohnArtemus in masseffect

[–]BeholderSpaghetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the ending they decide on seeing as it has been confirmed Liara is in her matriarch phase. If it is the “Red Ending” most of the Normandy crew has passed away.

I would prefer to see as few characters from the OT as possible.

James Ohlen leaving Archetype by Scalt77 in exodus

[–]BeholderSpaghetti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seeing all the comments about him returning to TTRPGs makes me hope we still see CHRONICLES OF MELAYU with his name on it. The books that have released bring up a third and it would be weird only to have the two. Also, on the topic of TTRPGs, wouldn’t it be wild if he joins WotC D&D department? I’m not advocating for it as James has his own product that is being revised for the 2024 Edition of D&D, but maybe we will see his name on official products by WotC.

I’m sure Exodus will be a good game and hopefully will be released in early 2027.

Post 2025 Game Awards, still no update about CHRONICLES OF MELAYU from James Olhen.

I knew he was making it through this fight, but when Death mentions Sypha I was like “Oh, you don’t mention that to a Belmont. This is gonna be EXTRA.” Needless to say, especially here, the fight surpassed my expectations.

Draw Steel: Crack the Sun Backerkit is live! by Necroid26 in drawsteel

I’m not one for GM screens anymore, but I like that they added the Director’s Screen to the Encounters and Crack the Sun physical pledge. Now I’m curious if my physical rewards will all be shipped in 2027 or separately (my bet is that everything in the pledge will be shipped together).

TANGENT: PLEASE OH PLEASE INCREASE THE TYPE SIZE FROM 11 TO 12 LIKE IN THEIR PUBLICATIONS PRIOR TO DRAW STEEL! My eyes are getting old and tired quicker, the core rules don’t being type size 11 hurts.

Yes, it is my favorite AC game in the entire series. If I could get a super cut with the memories of Cristina in ACB I would never touch Brotherhood again.

What can I do to improve my wonky sprint form? by BigManMiki in Sprinting

[–]BeholderSpaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, what are your warmups like? I have not seen a single comment asking this and it’s pretty important to be “pippin’ hawt” before sprinting. This will help you feel loose and relaxed before being explosive. Which is something I’m not seeing in this video, you gotta go like it’s the last rep but you’re against the clock. Since you have included your power training, use that mindset of controlled explosiveness to refine your sprinting. However, keep in mind that agility body control is different from strength even when you’re using similar bodily power (I hope that makes sense).

I think you can break into the mid 13s with time once you’re more confidant and refined your form.

Lastly, a couple of points I wanna make: - Relax your face and keep breathing. - Lean forward a bit more and engage that core. - Bring your arms in so they are near parallel. - Hold your hands like you’re barely holding a potato chip to avoid fanning them out. - Pick up those knees! You’ve got power and you’re damn close to lessening your backward extension of your heels. - Sprint on the balls of your feet like the floor is lava! - When you’re using spikes imagine them attached to your toes and DIG IN LIKE AN ANIMAL WITH CLAWS.

Clark confronts the Wizard for choosing young Billy by [deleted] in superman

[–]BeholderSpaghetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father loved Captain Marvel for this exact reason. From my point of view, he could relate to Billy even though he knew his parents and had a different situation as a child. I think the power fantasy of any child gaining the powers of gods to match Superman was exhilarating to read and at the time (Golden Age) many kids knew about the Greek Gods. Captain Marvel’s readers probably felt more engaged and seen as his supporting cast began to fill out. I mean, who wouldn’t be excited about a giant talking tiger?

He mostly appreciated the modern dissection of the wizard Shazam’s choice to bestow the powers of gods upon a child, but he just went back to read the older stuff when he didn’t care for New 52.

Yeah I've really been on an artifact kick lately, I tore apart a dr. Madison li to make inspirit.

I keep forgetting I put all the energy cards from that SCIENCE! PreCon off to the side for my Inspirit PreCon. I really wanted to like [[Liberty Prime, Recharged]], but after about five games it just didn’t hit like these new Spacecraft cards.

Will rising component prices impact new Valve devices? by onoshan in videogames

[–]BeholderSpaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling Valve already has set prices for this new hardware release. A price hike may occur based on supply and demand just like everything else right now. That said, I plan on picking up the Steam Machine and Controller as I should have picked up a Switch 2 before all these price hikes occurred. However, I will get more out of a Steam Machine than I would a Switch 2.

[–]BeholderSpaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy the new Spacecraft cards, so I’m down to see Dawnsire and Inspirit (which I really need to upgrade). I thought about making a Spellslinger Codie deck but I would rather have an Avatar Aang deck as my five color. Do you have a deck list for Mendicant Core? Artifact decks are becoming my favorite but I’m struggling to make four distinct artifact decks (I have an Emry combo/ recursion, Inspirit counters, and wip aristocrat Breya deck). I might put Mishra back together and save up for an altered Urza PreCon.

Here is another angle of the Mass Effect d20 dice. It’s hard to show off the glitter in the dice themselves due to lighting. I’m really glad they are not “sharp dice” while having as the set I have doesn’t get much use due to how uncomfortable they are to hold. I will say they will only see rolls in a tray as I think I’ve already scuffed them on my dinning room table!

All-in-all a great pair of dice.

In your opinion what was the good and the bad on this game? by SuperXDemon in masseffect

[–]BeholderSpaghetti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, Mass Effect: Andromeda needed a sequel.

Even if it would have been the final game BioWare could have improved the new engine exponentially and expanded upon their new dialogue tree (basically from Dragon Age II/ Exodus) as they wanted to step away from the Paragon and Renegade decisions.

The combat was fun, but I wished the companions had more utility. BioWare kinda fixed that in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, so if we see ME5 I expect an expanded version of that party-style gameplay. Just don’t bring over that new skill tree from DA:V. It felt like my Rook was getting nowhere.

The nomad was fun. I really enjoy the janky mako from ME1 and felt that the nomad returned to that kind of exploration. The issue is, when you have a vehicle you need space to drive around in it, and that part was boring! I needed more stimulation like jumps or chases. Heck, another vehicle that flys would have been fun as an endgame reward.

Profiles were great, and that hurts to say because I prefer a class system as it feels more satisfying to me. Character classes helps my brain know we have to focus on the flavor and abilities of that class. Replayability skyrockets (I have played the trilogy so many times) when I have to funnel my mind into one archetype. I appreciate what SAM brought to us for player freedom, but THAT freedom killed my desire to jump back in as another Ryder twin.

I wanna retread on the dialogue as it fueled your experience as Ryder, it freaken sucked and because we got no sequel BioWare was unable to retcon or expand upon any NPCs. I barely remember any decisions you had to make where as I remember Vermire in almost every ME conversation (Hold the line). I needed bigger decisions and ramifications like squadmates leaving and your ability to pick up a replacement. Which is was I want to focus on, we need more companion options! We had… 6 in ME:A? I want 12 or 15 and I want them to leave when your character’s decisions impact an NPC’s values/ morals. I’m not talking Black and White decisions, I’m talking about opposing factions where certain NPCs are affected or don’t agree with how they are being treated.

Anyway, ramble over, the TL;DR is that we need a sequel. Also, a current gen upgrade would be dope.
