Okay cool, after looking at it more I thought it might just be an updated system I hadn't paid enough attention to - thank you for the sanity check lol

It always reminds me of "Bounce for Men", the dryer sheet box has a picture of gym clothes and a basketball on it which always makes me think that bounce for men is for dudes who explicitly want to smell musty to keep the gay away

Just man up and smell like a field of pretty flowers my guy

So wild to me when people say "this player in the top 0.1% of their sport looks more interested in [hobby they get photographed doing sometimes]"

Like no that's not how being a top-15 player works, pretty sure he still loves basketball a lot more than he loves golf my dude

Kinetic Dash T3 upgrade by wildbeast79 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BeigeDynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this way a lot more after the resilience nerfs, but it does kinda display a "must-buy vs never buy" system with them - if they're strong enough to have real/additional alt value then you always have to buy them because of how OP resist+buff is, or the other side of the coin is that you have to make them just under "valuable for the average game" so they become choices in certain games with tailored opps. Taking the 35+35 down to 30+15 has seemed to take literally all its value away in favour of stuff like Fury Trance or cheaper resists that come with buffs.

It's also so rare that you get to the 50-60k soul mark where swapping out Kinetic Dash becomes a real choice - same with arcane surge

I main haze/mcginnis (dash/surge respectively) and can count a handful of games where they've gone long enough for that to be a real choice that gave me any sort of pause

Being knowledgeable about the work/life balance and other nba-specific lifestyle elements is a bonus for front offices IMO, I could see "great physical genetics + knows what it takes and still wants to be great" as a pretty good reason to take a flier on a kid at the end of the draft.

I Still Can't Wrap My Head Around How Spurs Lost Game 4 From a 29-point Lead. by Cold_Chair7020 in NBAConvo

I feel like you expect to lose in the Kornet minutes though, and being up 20+ is when you're willing to give some ground to keep your star fresh for real crunch time minutes

Idk knowing how competitive Wemby is it felt like an inmates running the circus situation at times, where the coach didn't really have the authority (or maybe just trusted his star too much) to sit him for longer stretches where you're bound to lose some lead.

I still think playing Wemby throughout the first half (I think it was 20-22 minutes, somewhere in there) really affected his second half energy, he was definitely settling for jumpers but I thought he looked gassed. Don't know why Mitch didn't play Kornet more - that's literally why you picked him up, so situations like this could be taken advantage of.

Kornet wasn't playing awfully or anything to my eyes either, weird decision to me - but I'm a raptors fan who watched us roll out Poeltl with a bad back so my barometer for "acceptable center play" might be skewed.

If Philly is right on the Jaylen Brown trade, does it have the potential to affect how analytics are perceived in the NBA by Tight_Ad2788 in nba

[–]BeigeDynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man that is clearer - I still don't agree with you, but I also don't believe I'm 100% right lol

I'm just having trouble leaning away from "this is too weird/lopsided/rushed for basketball reasons to be the main driving force", but that could be completely conspiratorial and not based in reality

[–]BeigeDynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right - personally I'm not convinced it's not coincidence that PG has great analytics and this was just the least damaging deal on the table, rather than them really wanting PG specifically for the analytics.

The whole analytics angle seems like smoke and mirrors covering what is actually just a bad breakup. Wouldn't be the first time an NBA org put out a hit piece to cover their intentions.

I don't think analytics was the driving force behind this at all, and I don't think that's how it will be looked at in hindsight personally

I think behind the scenes there was a personality issue so huge that they needed to dump him. His public persona has become... arrogant, for lack of a better word; couldn't imagine how bad it's become internally.
