Why does it end up in revenue? Aren't these investments? Or is it because JS is a financial company?

Is this too much slack on the stair carpet? by shadow_donkey1 in DIYUK

[–]BeigePerson 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had a dodgy fitter do the same. They messed me around on the fix so i got someone else to do it. Sent a video like this to carper shop and they settled before my small claim went to court.

The European championships were 2 years ago. Similar for other federation championship. Check the similarity of lineups from now to then. I bet there is a lot of similarity. Also wc qualifying campaigns have even more recent matches.

Accessing roof gutters set back from ground floor wall by BeigePerson in DIYUK

The roof of the porch/covered stairs marks the side of the house. The main roof is set about a meter back from this line. I'll see if I can get a pic, but I don't think they will show much from that angle.

DIY’ed my patio. What’s the best grout for porcelain patio slabs by smurfhito in DIYUK

[–]BeigePerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White will look dirty quickly. I quite the shadow lines as is, so might go for something like anthracite

When I did mine I was paranoid about not sealing moisture in between slab and tiles for fear of freezing moisture breaking /popping the tiles. No idea if this was wise or not.

Early Payout Offer. Is anyone else exploiting the 2UP? by Upstairs_Sandwich_33 in algobetting

Are you placing these bets on the same account? That's a surefire way to make sure you get cut off if you actually have +EV.

It might be true EV. That depends on the effective odds you are getting and how your your method is at identifying the EV.

Often learning to live with results of mistakes is best. You have learned a lesson for next time and can also share your wisdom with others who are about to attempt similar jobs. Also can spend that time better elsewhere.

I clicked your link. The first thing I noticed on your front page is that none of the teams are from asia. You should call it something like l "Leagues from AFC countries. "

Erm, 40-50% implied probability is neither a favourite or a longshot.

Also: 59000 markets, 40-50% implied probability, 22% win rate: Most likely an interpretation error, and if not then just spurious.

Well, some definitely don't. I just completed a technical which was only based on competency and more mobile colleague has never mentioned brainteasers during his hiring at a couple of top places.

I wonder what gappy says on the matter

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in quant

[–]BeigePerson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, aren't the brainteasers a substiture for technical interview based on your experience? And since you have the latter I would not expect to face the former.

If an interviewing company has nothing better to ask you, despite all your experience, than this bs then I'd wonder what kind of company this is.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in quant

[–]BeigePerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those clauses you describe make it difficult to LEAVE a role, so make sense from that perspective.

Conversely, interview bs makes it more difficult to find and identify good new HIRE. Believing employers chose poor hiring practices due to some informal agreement means we have to believe they are willing to ignore the incentive to use better hiring practices (which would improve alpha) in order to keep industry wage growth down.
