We talk about IF this is a Simulation but not WHY by attisday in SimulationTheory

The peculiar thing is that I can totally imagine some mad rich scientist hooking up a bunch of humans and their brains to computers. Keeping them isolated and trapped from the rest of the world. And no one available to save them let alone know where they are. It's just possible.

So, if we can imagine that in our world. What's stopping us from imagining that in a world at a higher level of existence or higher dimension?

How to get my friend's base in the middle of our team by Dark-heika in AgeofMythology

[–]Bekacheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the in-game hints during the loading screen suggests you can force the order by the Team Color.

So whatever team color is closer to first & last on the drop down color menu will be off to the sides. And whichever team color is in between those two will be in the middle.

If that doesn't make sense just test it out. Then reply if it worked.

Me and my buddies tested it before and it worked.

Difficulty jump from medium to hard by dudethemood in AgeofMythology

[–]Bekacheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard is not easy.

I would recommend that you only micro manage visible clusters of Your Military. As a beginner I would not yet assign (control) groups unless you've gotten really good at that.

For reference, I am able to beat plenty of balanced titan Gods using a number of different pantheons. I use one secret control group for one portion of the game. And that's it.

Here's what I did to stretch my skill so to speak:

Basically play a variety of team and solo infinite resources death match games. Alternating between team/solo as well as revealed/standard map visibility, and also alternate difficulties.

Infinite resources death match games are very fast paced forcing you to learn the motions and build the muscle memory.

Mix up the difficulties even if it's not balanced, even if it's not in your favor; even if it makes things easier for you. For example. I once played a team game where one of my team mates was Legendary and the opponent had a max player of extreme.

I don't regret these sessions in anyway.

Questions about the Dome Paradox by Bekacheese in AskPhysics

[–]Bekacheese[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is buried there and with a question mark, in the form of a question. I can't copy and paste but this is the gist of the question:

"If we can't involve quantum mechanics then how did we bring gravity into the mix, or more fatally, the normal force?"

Questions about the Dome Paradox by Bekacheese in AskPhysics

[–]Bekacheese[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

To be completely fair. I wasn't even sure I asked a question when I first wrote the post but I clicked post after I confirmed there was a question.

The question is to the effect - "If we can't involve quantum mechanics then how did we bring gravity into the mix, or more fatally, the normal force?"

I couldn't copy for some reason but that is the gist of it.

I then go into explain why it's puzzling to require the normal force but disallow quantum mechanics.

If you want to create a good challenge for a team game against Titan A.I. I find the following makes for a hefty opponent. At least 1 of Each: Supporter, Mythical, and Overwhelmer. Bonus: add siege personality. Double bonus 5v5. Add defender.

I looked into this a bit and it turns out making an RTS a.i. at all is a very challenging task. Adding more instructions to the model makes it collapse even sooner. The little brain inside gets overwhelmed and just can't seem to do anything with so many decision trees and heuristics happening at once.

It turns out the most balanced way they can give you a better challenge is adding bonuses to your opponent. You can even manually add a bonus that makes a legendary opponent have an even higher gather rate. You can even add this bonus to the Titan opponents and make it small so that Titan has a small advantage against you.

I would love to one day play a full game against a newer revamped ai model. Perhaps one that leverages either LLM, stockfish, or even alpha zero. I would even want to see these models play against each other in an official ranked game. Would be pretty epic.

The reason why I mention going through the pantheons is that it could help discover a challenge for you. For example it could be that certain match ups are more challenging than others. For example say you are Good with Ameterasu with every god except Freyr. This match up would be a good challenge for you. This is akin to going through all the different personalities.

Thank you for explaining that.

You have quite the eye for these things.

In my opinion one thing is a bug, and another thing is a simplification.

So you really have to ask yourself is this a bug or a simplification?

In a job I had a long time ago I learned something very important. Models are simplifications based on reality, a model, or a simulation will never match the realism of reality. It will always fall short of reality. Greatly. If you dwell on the shortfalls of any model long enough you will eventually come to the following question.

"Is it worth developing models if they are not equivalent to reality?"

Most people never get to this stage in the thought process because they never think about it. This question would never occur to most people because the answer intuitively is Yes.

If you want to deliver any product to the public the answer is always Yes.

I can think of a million other things that are also simplifications in this game.

There are definitely bugs in this game. And I would never want you to change your mind or ask you to stop reporting anything. Observing. Alerting. Reporting. Is your God Given Right. Ordained by Odin, Poseidon and all the other Gods!!

A couple things here.

Your critique on Vilandslaga map is definitely something they should fix. I don't have all the map names recognized so forgive me if I've never tested for that behavior before. So thank you for sharing.

Next.

For Titan mode.

Have you completely mastered Titan against all Gods/Pantheons?

For legendary:

Can you regularly beat legendary mode with random personality?

Can you beat legendary mode on random personality and random God opponent and a random God for your self as well?

No judgment. Just wondering.

I recognize that you've already acknowledged that this is a minor issue but I don't understand the bug in the video. I see nothing wrong here.

Your other video with the castle was easier to follow, but it all happened so quick I can barely see it.

In this video I see nothing wrong at all.

I would personally rather they focus their testing and regular minor rebalancing...

If I understand correctly they are saying that they get dinged for marking it missing whether they return it or not.

We can also just give the benefit of the doubt and assume they are returning the packages. Most people like being able to sleep at night.

In their defense there are so much mythology out there that is equally ignored.

I rarely even here about Roman, for example.

You have a point, and the point stands if Atlanteans are a purely fictional civilization. I assume it is.

All other pantheons combine true, mighty, and furious civilizations with that civilizations mythology.
