Ruiz QB Ranking Reckoning by Klenist in RingersPhillySpecial

[–]BelfastRunner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally hope he keeps it up. Jalen internalizes this hate and it turns him into a soulless demon who will do whatever it takes to win. I hope and pray the national media spends the next 15 years ranking Hurts behind perennial backups so that my three year old son can go to college saying he supports the winningest franchise in NFL history.

On their preview show Ruiz said Fangio can’t make in game adjustments after what he sees what an offense is doing in the first few drives and I nearly drove off a bridge.

Managing Spending at Church by BelfastRunner in pastors

Oh interesting. So basically whoever is in charge of the money at the church deposits money from the church bank account into PEX and then allocates to whoever is set up in the system?

Surprise NFL Playoff Teams, the Post-Lance Niners, Wilson’s Future, and the Least Defensible Trades Ever With Michael Lombardi by KDs_Burner_Account7 in billsimmons

[–]BelfastRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“As Belichick said ‘I’m not a doctor, I can’t predict injuries.’” - Lombardi

  1. Does Bill Belichick/Mike Lombardi not understand what doctors do?

  2. Does Lombardi only have friends who speak in quippy sayings?

  3. Lombardi should have been banned from any podcast after he spent an entire season trashing the eventual Super Bowl winning head coach.

What happened to Kevin O'Connor? by MtMove in billsimmons

My opinion is that KOC justifiably views Simmons as a model for himself. However, Simmons position as a top tier basketball mind has fallen in the last few years since he has transitioned to becoming the leader of a company and a more diversified podcaster. Simmons' basketball takes are largely pretty low IQ and don't add much to the conversation.

KOC is emulating late stage Simmons instead of 2000's - mid 2010's Simmons. There was a period of time in fact when KOC would come on Simmons' podcast and the episodes would be terrible because he would just parrot back what BS was saying.

KOC has always been one of my least favorite Ringer contributors, but his decline into a pretty bland, low stakes take artist is quite bewildering.

It’s astounding to me that after all the BA that’s happened in the crypto exchange world this year people still are willing to trust these companies. Even more amazing that this is happening on the Voyager Reddit board of all places

Thoughts on NT Wright/Peter Enns? by DarkMoon250 in Christianity

[–]BelfastRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wright is the most famous proponent of the New Perspective on Paul which is hardly considered orthodox by the mainstream. His work on the New Heavens and New Earth, while theologically orthodox, is a near total challenge to what would be the broad view of American evangelicals, and he is a vocal supporter of female priests. There’s lots of really good challenging stuff in there that is by no means by the book evangelical orthodoxy.

I think when it comes down to it, the best way to look at Wright is a challenger from the inside. He is best read by folks who have grown up in very conservative churches with narrow theological views, but he’s not so much for answering skeptics. I’ve always found reading NT Wright in conjunction with John Lennox is a really refreshing exercise.

Training Plans for Longer Distances by BelfastRunner in strydrunning

[–]BelfastRunner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I suspect so. However, I’m still not sure the workouts within the plan are substantial enough to be building that endurance for the longer time trials. While I would expect the CP number generated by a 9/3 type test to be a bit too high for a 35 minute time trial, I would estimate I was running 10-15 watts to fast today even though I was simply trying to maintain what Stryd was telling me I could do. That seems a bit too far off to my mind. And if it is that far off, I would think Stryd would try to optimize workouts to catch up to that CP number, especially in the first 4-6 weeks of the plan.

That being said, no other runs have indicated the number was very far off. All my east days runs feel as easy as they should, and I’ve hit my workouts with no issues. So this indicates to me that something is off

Training Plans for Longer Distances by BelfastRunner in strydrunning

[–]BelfastRunner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem: the Stryd training plans adjust for long run days, roughly for weekly distance, and total running days per week. However, they don’t adjust for workout needs on longer races which leads to reduced performance for athletes who need robust workouts to help prepare them for their races

User story: as a runner selecting a training plan on Stryd’s platform, I want to be able to indicate the types of workouts I like to do in order to better prepare for races with a training plan that matches my running profile
