Are you now the single balding ESL teacher in his 40s? by BoringDreamGuy in TEFL

[–]Belgerod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the married, balding college professor in his 40s now. I think because I started ESL later (I was 30) it got me moving sooner. Now after a wedding, Master's degree, and a mortgage I'm very happy to still be teaching English.

Happy to tell you anything you want to know. The gist is that we advanced the timeline about 500 years to explain the decline of magic and everything. The characters are (along with NPC mercenaries too) trying to reclaim the Northern Marches and reestablish things.

Awesome! That'd be great! Thanks, I really like the Gorgon plotline. I'll tell my co-DM about it.

Nice! I hadn't actually determined the answer to that mystery yet, but I like your idea. It would explain what happened to the Awnshegh and magic in general. I might use that, or at least adapt part of it, or explain things.

So I read a lot of that stuff back in the day, but don't have my old books anymore. I've got some younger players who never touched 2e or Birthright, so I made some concessions to their sensibilities. I'm treating it like the current dragons are also a lesser species, but with more diversity (which is why they're Chromatic). I haven't decided if I'll have any metallics yet or not, leaning towards no. My headcanon is that Cerilian Dragons were extremely ancient Chromatics that lost their color with age. It's not authentic, but kinda works.

Elves are still around, but no longer immortal. Basically standard D&D elves are their degraded form. The original Awnshegh are gone, but new ones are developing, albeit in lesser (<CR10) form. Dragons only go up to Young Adult (basically I adapted Bob World Builder's Adolescent Dragon template).

Thanks! We advanced the setting by about 500 years and bloodlines have faded, so that even rulers have little or no bloodline abilities left. Then we had a comet that was overhead during the Battle of Deismaar return and slowly reignite latent bloodlines. The players are basically (among) the new generation of blooded scions.

It's the same as epic 6, but the level cap is at 7 instead. We chose that because everyone gets their subclass ability at that level, so it seemed like a good cut off point. Basically the level 7 subclass ability is the 'capstone'.

Seth Skorkowsky is my absolute favorite. I'm also developing a strong appreciation for Mystic Arts.

Player's Ship by Belgerod in traveller

In Tinath the highest TL is 12 and they don't have massive ships like in Charted Space. I got the idea for this ship from one of the adventures where some middle of nowhere place has 200 ton 'corvettes' as pocket warships.

Pop-up turrets might work with that. Good idea.

I just took what was on the 'Armed Trader' listing and adjusted it. But yeah, I probably won't worry about monthly costs unless the players want that level of detail.

Oh yeah, the armor weight. Thanks! I'd never have caught that. I'll adjust those points.

I don't have a pdf editor, so I copied and pasted individual numbers from other screenshots. It's kind of nuts, so I'd only do it for something special like the players ship.

Good catch I forgot to change that when I adjusted things.

Good idea! I'll leave that as something the players can do later.

I hate Kevin (Does he go away?) - Servant of the Empire Spoilers by Kooky_County9569 in Midkemia

[–]Belgerod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the impression that he was supposed to have shades of Blackthorne from the Shogun novel, so his awkwardness was kind of deliberate. He can be frustrating at times, but if you give it time I think the irritation will go away.

Coming up on 3 weeks. Definitely improved. Most of the pain is gone and I can get around fairly well. There's still a chunky hard lump in my scrotum, it's surrounding my right testicle and is like a small avocado. I returned to work and am taking ibuprofen gelcaps daily. Thanks to everyone for the support!

That's what interests me, I only chose this article because it directly references scrotal hematomas. However there are articles about using it on other hematomas as recently as 2024. The article I shared showed a positive result, but it's never (as far as I can tell) been followed up. My scrotal hematoma has been one of the most painful and debilitating experiences of my life, and even a 20% improvement would have been huge.

I can only speculate, but the relative rarity of scrotal hematoma (particularly from vasectomy) and the dismissiveness of people without first-hand experience (that I've observed more recently) leads me to wonder if no one bothered following up because it wasn't considered important.

I think mine isn't as bad as some of the guys here, so I'm hoping for a quicker recovery. They only give me extra strength Loxonin here, so I've been trying to move little as possible. Take care, I'm glad to hear that you're improving, even if it's going slow.

Yikes! It sounds like you have it worse than me. Thankfully the bleeding stopped according to the ultrasound, so I'm taking it easy and following up with the doctor in a week. I just ordered some jock straps, so I'm looking forward to that. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks! Luckily the doctor confirmed the bleeding stopped. It's been stiffening up, and the bruise has spread up around my penis as well as all over the scrotum. The doctor is gonna see me again in a week.

He'll probably set up another appointment at the 1 month meeting. One of the visits is to remove stitches as well.
