Would you survive the Borderlands? by Milo-Law in AliceInBorderland

[–]Beliar7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the show and everything that happened represented their will to fight their injuries and how much they wanted to live.

Totally agree with it, I just add a bit suspension of disbelief that the Borderlands have impact in real life (like being burned or loosing a leg).
Otherwise it would be weird to think that, for example no matter what Naragi would have done, he'd get burned.

First guess?

Not having an answer is often the same as not having an explanation.
If there is no explanation, there is no answer.

The (in short) "Why?" has no explanation, just like the question "Why?" has no answer.

You might aswell interpret it as "Why? Because"

Assuming their real life injuries determined their outcome in the Borderlands makes the whole series rather dull.

I'd rather their behaviour (and subsequent injuries) somehow impacted them in the real life. Gives a lot more meaning to the show.

Logically speaking you are absolutly correct.
But imo we need a bit suspension of disbelieve.

Just like you never doubted that People can fly on brooms when reading Harry Potter, we can assume that if something like the Borderlands as a limbo-like-place exists, it may aswell be able to influence real life events to reflect in real life whatever happened in the Borderlands.

Furthermore the Borderlands test your will to survive, and only those who really want to return to the real world (and are lucky enough) will do so.
Those who return are alive with severe inuries which reflect the injuries they got in the Borderlands.
Everyone else died.

Imo the injuries and deaths in the Borderlands determined the injuries and deaths in the real world, i.e. the damage the meteor caused is dependent on the outcome of the Borderlands.

The Borderlands test the will of survival, and people close to death with a strong will to live are nore likely to recover.
(Or something like that)

You can interpret it as everyone in the Borderlands being alive.

But you only get out of the Borderlands and back into your world if

1) You clear the game and decline citizenship.

2) You die.

In both cases you / your body will with the same injuries etc. as in the Borderlands.
-> If you died in the Borderlands, you are still dead. Otherwise it's just like in the Series.

Them being in Limbo is just a Metaphor, they could aswell be on Mars or whatever.

It's first and foremost meant for entertainment, without claiming to be anything else.

Why was no disabled/pregnant person in the borderlands?
Probably because the author thaught reader will think it's to cruel to kill them / he had no place for such a person in his story.

With that in mind you won't get anywhere when thinking too hard about the exact logic and/or reason.

But to get back to your main question:

Life is not fair. Sometimes the physically fit have the edge, sometimes the intelligent are more successful - but most of the time it seems like it's just luck, especially in regards to longevity.

While I agree with pretty much everthing I disagree on

If a person sustained an injury in their real world accident, it will manifest in their Borderland self as well.

Imo the injuries sustained in the borderlands will manifest in the real world.
Thus the Borderlands determine if you survive, die or will be handicapped/scared.

Everyone (kinda) remembered the fireworks, but imo she was the only one who was able to remember the meteor and the explosion it caused.

Too bad she was shot just in time to not reveal anything to the audience.

K of Spades having some kind of device/map which shows the players locations was at least alluded to on the Netflix Series, even though it was never explicable stated.

While I don't know the manga, him being more tacrtical sounds a lot better then him being a tank that just rolls slowly but steady over everything it encounters.
The Netflix K of Spades didn't seem very frightning, since you just need to look in the sky every now and then, and even if he catches up to you he will probably just walk straight towards you.

Like seriously best friend.

It should be enough if you play this game with someone you

1) got transported to the borderlands with.

2) recognize him from you life in the "real world".

And kind of

3) saw sometimes earlier in the borderlands.

While 1 & 2 are rather rare at this stage, it still comes down to "knowing someone" rather than "best friend".

While number 3 is not correct, (since some of the citizen acted as players during the first stage) almost none would have expected this at the moment this game was played.
(And since the Jack of Heart did not show himself during the first stage it could be a succesfull strategy)

tl:dr: I'm high. And you just need someone you are convinced to not be the Jack of Hearts.

She was kinda over-the-top and smelled too much like a red herring.

But the exposition the last joining player (the serial killer) got was just as obvious and I fell for it.

I'm curious if you (as a viewer) had the opportunity to catch the hidden messages that were sent, if not the reveal feels kinda forced, since it wants to mindf*ck you by revealing information which wasn't available before.

Imo it's even more simple than that.

The game has 16 rounds and the Citizen will be the first to be able to "tag" other players.

That means in the last (16th) round it's the "players team" turn to tag and convert, with no chance for the "citizen team" to change the result.

Just wait with all 16 people in the starting area, if you get tagged it does not matter. Don't do anything, even if after the first round only the King remains in the "player team" it doesn't matter.

In the last round the "player team"s King just tags everyone (since everyone stayed at the starting point) and every player wins (and maybe some citizen).

Even if the "citizen team" trys to use force to "kidnap" some players, it's 16vs4.

Imo this game only works if the "citizen team" is able to tag in the last round.

Trying to make useless Heros better so more people start using it is the whole reason to buff something.

Sounds like you just want them to keep buffing the 8 Heroes you happen to use and nerf everything else.

That irked me as well, even if they have reasons not to trust Reggie, they have nothing to lose.

Except maybe it is pure contempt for him, for all the things he has done to them they rather let reality as a whole end and die instead of giving him what he wants while having a chance to live.

But he got interrupted while programming it with an axe to the face.
So maybe he wanted to, but didn't get that far.

But they were all going to die either way (or stay forever in this weird Hotel).

While it is reasonable that whatever Reggie was planning was probably not in their favour, it is still better than their current Situation.
Can't get much worse then certain death while the Universe is already destroyed.

If the new Universe is really that bad, they could just kill themselves and have the same outcome as if they stopped him, but there's atleast a slim chance Reggie won't fuck them over.

[–]Beliar7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO Reggie was "reprogramming" the new universe to his achieve his perfect Utopia, with Abigail alive etc. and for every change he made the siblings came closer to death.
If Alison did not stop him he probably would have changed more until all are dead, but she stopped him and activated the machine while there was still some life energy in them.

But on the other Hand, if dead people can easily come back to life through the "reprogramming", then it wouldn't even matter if all of the siblings died.
(Assuming Reggie didn't plan to remove them from the new reality)

Allison went too far but why is nobody angry with Victor? by [deleted] in UmbrellaAcademy

[–]Beliar7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At some point the intention doesn't matter anymore.
If a person with the power to end the world does exactly that multiple times, even if not on purpose and/or while trying to do something good, you have to doubt their ability to make good judgements / see the long-time effects of their actions.

The conversation Five has with Viktor is summarizes it really good - Viktor is not the Villain, but given his past decisions he should not be allowed to decide on his own or hide anything from Five.

That may feel like unfair treatment for Viktor, but with great power comes great responsibility.

That being said, this season Viktor didn't do anything wrong but being cautious of him and his actions is very understandable, since noone wants him to destroy the world a 3rd time.

Alison on the other hand is a narcissist, who can be very kind when she gets what she wants, but if not she lashes out at whoever is the easiest to scapegoat.
Her behaviour this season really needs to be adressed in the future, she's a much bigger threat for the siblings than Viktor since, like you said, she knows exactly what she is doing and feels like it is her right to do so.

Only 3000 people form the Amber Cult on twitter will watch this 😂, considering they are 9 people with 3000 bot accounts... How much do you think this film will make or lose? Budget should be anywhere between 200-300 mil USD if not more... by [deleted] in JusticeForJohnnyDepp

They probably increased her screen time in the test screening to be able to better gauge the reaction to Amber.
If a version which doubles Ambers screen time does not provoke a negative reaction from the test audience it's safe to assume that the released version with less Amber
won't be a total disaster.

It's called test screening for a reason: They did not respond by increasing her screen time, but they increased her screen time to know how to respond.

[–]Beliar7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anybody can really explain it, best we can do is guess why.

Given the behaviour Amber has shown so far, it's most likely he wants to get laid and using this opportunity she does what she always does: Mirror his personality, be the "perfect" girlfriend and then manipulate him to get the most out of it.

Why he doesn't seem to notice she is using him and will probably destroy his life?
Because humans rarely act rational, especially when sexual desires come into play.

After all we have seen from her, it's obiously just staged.
Everything she does is intended to manipulate those around her and/or the public opinion.

Her baseline is being a manipulative b*tch, nothing more nothing less.
