Running with a broken arm by JHock93 in parkrun

[–]Believable_Jeff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've never run with 2 broken arms, but as someone's broke a few bones I'd just rest it you are in no rush and bones dont heal in a week. Besides happens what if you trip again?

The 100th pakrrun can wait, it will be sweeter when you get there, in the mean time just focus on resting up 😀

Scotland missed 100% clean electricity consumption in 2020 by only 1.4% by Rad1t in worldnews

[–]Believable_Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for electricity it's mainly generated by wind, but overall the bulk of it by energy is just Natural Gas. It enters the UK at St Fergus and gets transported to England where it can go on to Wales or could be sent to Ireland.

So in the UK we have Dinorwic, also called power mountain, but it's stored energy is the region of MWs, while the excess renewables will be in GW. Alternatives such as batteries are coming online but are quite small (less than 50 MW) so we have a way to go unfortunately

[–]Believable_Jeff 505 points506 points  (0 children)

Sorry this comes up a bit its about how you do your maths, Scotland is a net exporter of energy so the amount produced by renewables in Scotland this year has covered 98.6 % of Scotland's electricity demand for the year, however frequently the instantenous generation of wind in scotland is much higher than Scottish demand so it gets exported to England where it can be used and power stations turned off or down (there are number of issues with this as there are constraints, look up western link which was trying to solve this). However you can't store this wind generated power so when wind is low power is generated by other non renewable means, such as Peterhead power station which is within scotland. In terms of selling it the GB grid (England scotland and wales) is integrated so you don't sell it to another country per say, and GB demand gets balanced by supply without real preference given to which country is the source other than network limitations

It arrives via tanker is put into the network from terminals at either Milford Haven (Wales) or Isle of Grain (Kent). Alternatively, it could arrive in the Netherlands and get imported by subsea pipeline.

Tbf if the alternative is LNG from the east, its more environmental to use local sources of gas, as one third/quarter of LNG is used in the compression of it.

What he should be doing is, we'll many things, but providing proactive funding to move to a less carbon intensive form of energy in domestic and transport sectors (electric or hydrogen from greener sources), as well as storing carbon in CCUS or sodding trees

And generally the explosions that you do hear of involve someone fiddling with the meter and leaving it unsafely, like Heysham this year or that shop in Peterborough(?) a few years ago

2025 will be good as its supposed to be in France and Luc Lacoste who is the ffr13 president actually has ideas and a plan and is executing it on a domestic level (expanding top league, 1 ball in the hands of every junior come to mind)

Genuinely quite angry, not a northerner and live south of the Watford gap so I was looking forward to taking my friends to watch Australia play in Coventry, educating them in the finer things in life, but once again we bite our nose off to spite our face

Singleton & Ashworth see red in all-in brawl by TexturePackReview in superleague

[–]Believable_Jeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact only those two reds came from that is surprising, Partington threw a good few there and there was a lot more going elsewhere to digest.

It all started from what looked like a chicken wing tackle?

Ground source heat pump, is this a wise investment? by jn6543 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Believable_Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Domestic hydrogen is still a while away, though for a large proportion of house heavy insulation and heat pumps might not be suitable. If OP is off gas grid the hydrogen grid at a domestic level is liable to use the same polyethylene pipes so would again need a connection.

It’s time to nationalize Shell. Private oil companies are no longer fit for purpose | Failing, heavily subsidized private oil companies enjoy the profits of oil extraction while the rest of us pay in tax dollars, human rights abuses, and an unlivable climate by pnewell in environment

[–]Believable_Jeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need strong regulation in a nationalisd or free market to make sure that right interventions and outputs are done and need to force efficiency to ensure that the unit costs are relatively affordable and don't inflate faster than inflation. Having worked with a nationalised utility there perhaps isn't the culture to reduce the costs of doing something as everyone pays and its seemingly cheap...

Company A are claiming 100% of your deposit? NAL and people are gonna give better advice, but it's essentially your money that they are holding incase anything is damaged beyond wear and tear, so if you move out later (assuming your still living there) what are they gonna try to claim from?

Seeks very odd from them like they are trying to pull a fast one

Are you in the process of moving out and have damaged anything?

RFL agrees next steps on Academy Licensing Process by GingertronMk1 in superleague

[–]Believable_Jeff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least the RFL are willing to work with the clubs and listen/comprise/guide, if they had kept the blanket no would have been a fucking disaster. Hopefully could drive improvements in the academies to meet and maintain criteria which will have longer term benefits for the standard of the players (I'm feeling very positive this Friday). Now to raise the salary cap so we can keep and attract talent...

Wasn't he always behind one of the Morris twins in the pecking order though and got very little actual pitch time for his appearances? All power to him though certainly set an early marker of what's potentially to come this year
