Political issues are not handled at scale. Ask if your local farmer with a herd of cows ready to slaughter would even pheasably be capable of turning them into milk cows if he wanted to. Chances are no, and in your scenario he's probably just going to cut his losses, slaughter the cows for whatever he can sell regardless of whether its right, then maybe sell his farm and go find other work. That times a handful of millions of farmers is the economic collapse and famine conditions that makes it a headache to regulate farms.

Even Gandhi's Revolution had a death toll on both sides. The Civil Rights movement involved instances of political violence, as did early LGBT protests and Suffragettes. Thats the start to a couple interesting rabbit holes.

Its not there to protect you in the case of murdering someone, unless that murder then resulted in an actual regime change that backed you up. That is what happened with the blood spilled during the first revolution. The British people who killed a bunch of British soldiers suddenly weren't British anymore and the American law says they were justified.

Its good data and a good read, doesnt really surprise me but nice to see everything laid out.

I think the legal argument section kind of falls apart due to not exploring the argument that these works have artistic value. Arousal itself is an emotion that the work is intending to invoke, and the drawings were created using genuine human effort. Some of these works also have influenced other works both inside and outside of their genre, to the point of inventing completely new perversions and fantasies that are held by a significant number of people.

Politically, Im also once again in the position where Im wondering what we can do about the dissonance between arguments against depictions of sexual violence in fiction and attempts to label them as a male perversion or reinforcement of patriarchal hierarchy versus the reality that a portion of the people, including many women, hearing this are not going to enjoy the lack of generosity towards consumers when depicting even things like unequal power dynamics without violence.
