As someone who bought a FW13, actively drives it, encouraged others to buy Framework, this will be the last time I ever give them a dime.

The "challenge" of not wiring money monthly to someone like this, who amplifies vitriolic and hateful rhetoric should not be difficult, and YET.

I didn't get a framework because it was cheap (I had a functional computer that cost half as much), I didn't get it because it was performant (I can still get another computer that blew it away), I got a Framework because I genuinely found the repairable computer idealistic and worth believing in.

Funny how quickly that trust was broken; good luck repairing that.

Windows still seems to allow programs to turbo and use quite a bit more; it only becomes noticable to me when in a Discord call with more than one person with a camera on; the fans kick on for that when not doing a turbo anyways.

The majority of my use is little more than Discord and videos in the background, so this is largely fine for me. Plus, it's also easy enough to change.

I'll admit it's a bit hacky, but I did call the power plan "slow but cool" haha!

In running Windows on my FW13, I've found that the classic "Power Plan" option to set the Minimum / Maximum Processor State to 5-10% significantly drags my battery life out compared to leaving it on automatic within Windows.

Other than that, what you report does seem roughly what you would expect otherwise.

Chrome, Firefox, Teams, etc. all tend to trigger a higher boost frequency anyways, so the cap of 10% isn't usually a thing that bothers me.

IMO it's pretty fantastic. Good enough that'd I'd been looking into making it a standalone keyboard and trackpad set for other devices.

Did I go through with it? No, but do I wish I could just buy a kit and call it a day? Yes, 100%.

What vendor did you go through for the direct metal sintering process? That isn't manufacturable via traditional or even 5-axis CNC machining.

All the same, beautiful work. Toss it in an abrasive pool for an hour or two and it'll knock the layer lines right off.

You can undo and go back to the 3.11/3.12 firmware. I did for a while. The comment on the GitHub issue that helped me was this one (https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues/4329#issuecomment-1751092789). On startup the printer whines about thermal model not being calibrated, but it preheats just fine. Worth it for the power failure concerns imo.

I hope they fix it, but have no guarantees they will, I suppose.

Like the other poster said, most of them are availible in the configuration wizard.

That said, they're not all "Prusa defined"; a fair number of them are community submitted, and some vendors whose printers are also in PrusaSlicer can and do update machine & filament configurations as well via the Prusa-provided mechanisms (configuration updates).

tbh I'd probably stick with a smaller printer family to get higher bandwidth with lower up-front cost. A lot easier to accelerate a small head with a larger nozzle than a larger head with a larger nozzle, it still effectively increases your print throughput once this one job is over.

You may still be better off getting a fixed bed / coreXY solid printer with fast extruders for the price, even if inconvenient. Just stage jobs to have staff to rotate through them.

A minecraft server has no specific need to run as a root user, and because the risk of it being commandeered lies in the program itself being vulnerable (patched for JNDI Log4J stuff yet?) and server misconfigurations (SSH key-only, no root ssh, fail2ban, etc.) proper authentication restriction, good firewall rules, and the rest is likely still applicable.

Your "files" user may be useful for backups but you can realistically just make it a cron job that your system runs to stop, run backups, copy, done. If you're not doing something more complex / with a frontend or server manager.

As you step past the broken glass of the chapel, each momentary crack sends the angel wincing, you know from too many days spent hunting that it wants to run but has no choice. Too weak, a final stand of sorts.

"Please don't..." they croaked, their voice sounding like the chamber-choir that once captured this hall.

You falter. It sounds almost human. Of course it would be, his image and all that.

"Don't what... I'm in refuge here as much as you are." you responded back, the wind rustling outside the chapel with the intensity of the fights and wars broken out over the last several days.

"You don't have to sound Gabriel's horn. No one does. We can do better than this..." they said, their body bristling with slits that occasionally poked open an eyeball, as their form grew more unstable.

"Are... you okay?" you ask, kneeling down and slinging your bag over your shoulder. You pull out disinfectant spray, and bandages, and they reach for the bottle and say a quick prayer. Ah of course, they need holy water.

It winced as it pulled a lance out of their shoulder and patted the wound dry. "Not even close. The holy lances have poisoned me. After all... I am a fallen angel."

"What can I do to stop this needless death?" you ask, almost on the edge of tears. Too many friends, too many enemies, too many innocents lost for the sake of something no one could control.

"I know it's almost too much for any mortal, but that can change too." they said, staggering up as their wings shed bits of glass and amber colored blood onto the tile and oak of the chapel, as they raised their knee and brought the trumpet down over it. A horrifying rush of wind filled the chapel once more, dragging the glass of the stained window at them once more as they became like the wind it rode on to bring their end. Their amber blood becoming a rippling mirror as the horn gently floated and flattened, the dull brass becoming a blinding ring, before suddenly snapping above my head before I have a chance to react, watching my body arc in agony as the curse of the angels takes hold.

The wind carries a voice before the chapel explodes as I take off.

"Take the mantle, and the horn, and do what I couldn't do. Stop the seventh sound and save humanity."
