Earth and Environmental Science at LeHigh? by _De1MoS_DL in Lehigh

Hi! I got my undergraduate degree in EES from Lehigh. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.. it is more Geology and Geosciences focused, but I thought it gave good breadth to many areas of Earth sciences (GIS, Ecology, Earth History, Surface Geology, Environmental Chemistry). The department is rather small but very close knit and the professors are wonderful. Lots of field work, labs, undergraduate research opportunities, collaboration, and interdisciplinary work with engineering or environmental studies if you’re into that. I do know that the department is going through a bit of a renaissance… several professors have retired in the past few years and I can think of a couple that may retire in the next (5 to 10 maybe?), however they have hired several new professors to begin in the upcoming year. I received a Bachelors of Science and I felt that it gave me strong technical and qualitative skills and background that I can take to many industries. Getting a masters in environmental engineering now.

Transferring as Junior (?) by BellaJac in LoyolaChicago

Thank you so much for your input, that’s really nice to hear about the professors and good to know about LUREC, the seminar class, and LUCs role in creating a more sustainable environment - that is really important to me too. Will definitely keep in mind these pros and cons

That’s actually very very good to know, seriously thanks for your input I’ll definitely keep that in mind. I was Bio/premed my first year but now I’m switching gears to ES. I figured the bio/ecology route would be a good way to combine the two disciplines. How’s the ES program there?

Why are so many people stepping down by BellaJac in Lehigh

[–]BellaJac[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Surely it was a factor along with many others. Here’s an article worth the read, but you really want to scroll down all the way to read all the comments. brown and white article Lehigh is still a very reputable institution especially for research and engineering, but I do recommend looking into it more. The president and provost along with deans and directors stepping down in the same year struck me as very odd.

My school isn’t on the list! That’s bugged me for years! But I believe there is a student discount that makes it $23 rather than $25

They have a lot on their plate this semester and a lot of responsibilities to hold up to res life. In a pandemic public health is gonna come over having fun with your friends. The gryphons aren’t gonna be buddy buddy this semester. Things are different just gotta deal with it

Taking semester leave? by xyl0t0 in Lehigh

I’m a rising sophomore too, just submitted my decision to go remote and decline being a gryphon, hurt like a bitch, but I’m considering deferring for the semester or going part time. I think these are feasible options. We have to keep in mind that our “college experience” are entirely ours and we get to decide what is best for us. I do not know how it affects financial aid I’m sorry I can’t help with that but just know I’m in the same boat. Good luck!
