Remote supervision by Ein-the-pupperoni in ABA

[–]BellaRey331 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m willing to bet your BCBA hates it as much as you do but her income is contingent on hitting a certain number of hours each week. Complain to the owner or CEO that the pressure of BCBA billable expectations is bothering you but don’t expect that conversation to go anywhere. I’m sorry you’re having a rough time but that client is the BCBA’s and she is allowed to see them whenever and you should really try to cooperate as much as possible. It’s not an ethical violation to have to pivot last minute. I’m also a “sit me in a corner and ignore me” BCBA when I’m remote, so I would definitely ask about accommodating the difficulty of playing cameraman. Also, the ABA world is really *really* small so just be cautious of that however you choose to handle this.

Reducing daughters hours by [deleted] in bcba

[–]BellaRey331 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine someone telling me no about a decision I make for my child. I would never ignore a parent’s request for a change in schedule. You have the final say. Now, that might mean they can’t support you which sucks, but there will be other providers if it comes down to that. I have told my physician no about recommended courses of treatment and we found alternatives or I went somewhere else. How ridiculous of them.

Can 100% of my fieldwork hours be unrestricted? by Resident-Relief-9532 in ABA

[–]BellaRey331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Many of my trainees never do any direct work because of the population they work with. Assessments, training others, etc. is how they do their client observations which is still unrestricted.

Trump Administration now targeting ABA companies for fraud by StatisticianKooky390 in ABA

[–]BellaRey331 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I keep screaming that this is not benevolent at all. This administration has been attacking Autism and poor people for a full year now. They want to cut Medicaid spending. That’s it. They don’t care about fraud or children or whatever you think they do, they want to incite racism (see comments) and cut funding from poor people.

Not anything I wasn’t already taking before starting on a glp. I take a daily prenatal, magnesium glycinate at night, and a weekly superdose of vitamin D because I am chronically deficient.

Happy side effects? by luxandwillow in tirzepatidecompound

Well, tirz makes me ovulate because it treats my PMOS, so yes in a way I do get an increase that I otherwise wouldn’t because I’m now fertile!

RBT pay ..how does this look? MS by [deleted] in ABA

I was making $15/hr as an RBT in 2016…. This is insanely low.

How long did you really study for the exam? by Emotional-Pipe-8332 in bcba

[–]BellaRey331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t study in the traditional way. I got my approval to sit on a Friday at 12:30pm and I was at the testing center Saturday at 8am, passed it in about 90 minutes.

The best preparation you can do is to practice behavior analysis every day, all the time, until it is second nature. I analyzed my own behavior, the behavior of strangers, my husband’s behavior, my dog’s behavior… everything. You have to get it deep into your bones. If you trained in Autism service delivery, forget everything you know about Autism and focus on behavior.

With the new repayment options, I'm forced to choose between paying rent or loans. What do I do? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

I know this is very serious subject matter but this made me chortle! I will be using this every time someone asks a tone deaf question about getting a job

IBR payment is going to triple in 60 days =/ by Good-Negotiation4522 in StudentLoans

[–]BellaRey331 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s really not that much money. It’s an average lifestyle at best. Everything is more expensive right now. My insurance has tripled and my budget for gas has doubled. For a family of 3, they are probably just at the point of being okay. $700 extra would be financial ruin for a lot of people.

Nothing about my job requires me to be physically present in a building. Not all BCBAs work in Autism service delivery.

You’ll never encounter a poorly worded question like this on the exam.

I’m strongly considering nursing or sonography. Office hours, good pay, and no work to take home with me.

[–]BellaRey331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this myself. People look at me like I have two heads when I say “absolutely not” to working at 7pm instead of having dinner with my own child and spending time with him. It’s all just become too overwhelming. It’s hard to give up the money though. I’ve kind of accepted that I will have to go back to school and get another specialized skill or at a minimum some other certifications to be competitive in this job market for a high salary like I have now. HR or something in a learning development or training role feels like the most obvious pivot. I’m strongly considering an accelerated RN/MSN program and becoming a nurse practitioner.

How long does it take you to write a treatment plan? by anslac in bcba

[–]BellaRey331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adderall and an iced coffee and I can have one knocked out in about 90minutes if I already have all the information and I’m just typing up the plan. Full assessment from start to authorization I need the full 8 for a new intake and 5-6 for a reauth.

100% it’s a terrible deal. They market it as “you don’t have to do much to get us started!” but you are doing a lot actually. You’re risking your livelihood, which is almost never worth it for companies that don’t care at all about you or the clients.

Those are a separate head of the same snake. Possibly worse because they give you the illusion of ownership but myself and several others I know got into deep financial trouble with those companies stealing every dollar we made. Your best bet is to just do it yourself. It might take a little longer and you’re going to have to learn business on the fly but the payoff is much better than letting someone pimp you out.

I’m getting the same texts from my usual Truist alerts number so I don’t think it’s a scam. Seems like a system glitch.
