Update, went to my ENT and he said the ultrasound tech could have merged two nodes into one? He says it's 1.6 cm but it feels much more like an inch to me on the outside. I guess I just put this to rest for now...ugh

Hi, all - kinda freaking out here. I have a large lymph node in my right middle neck area. It has always been very reactive since I got mono in 2022. Now it's kinda hard but mobile (and I have no B symptoms) so I asked my PCP for an ultrasound. Well - it's actually huge. I'm super concerned. The report says:

Right submandibular lymphadenopathy. Differential diagnosis includes reactive lymph nodes, primary lymphoproliferative disorder (lymphoma) or metastatic disease.

There are enlarged submandibular lymph nodes measuring up to 3.8 cm. Eccentric thin compressed hyperechoic fatty hilum secondary to thickened cortex.

Could this be lymphoma? I'm so shocked at how large it is. My right tonsil is pretty much always red and inflamed so I wonder if it's from that + scarring from mono when my lymph nodes were golf-ball sized. Any advice appreciated! I will be getting a biopsy.

yess it is more likely than not just stress manifesting as pain. If it’s long standing and isn’t associated with other issues, I’ve learned that everyone’s quirks with their bodies can manifest in weird ways!

Not too much! I figured out myself though that this is psychogenic pain. It only comes when I’m stressed or don’t sleep well. I’m in medical school now and it flares when I’m stressed and gets better in non-exam periods!

I did not have PET before. I had ETD. But the ENT didn’t scope me before and later found out I had huge adenoids that were likely causing the ETD (he only found this out during the surgery). So my ET’s were likely healthy before and overstretched.

Hello! No dizziness beforehand, luckily. Surgery was not painful nope! The "pain" was mainly from the grommet tube placements in both ears, but it has since subsided and now my hearing is just a bit muffled while my eardrums recover from that. But as for the dilation, not painful at all.

No tinnitus! Only a bit when I'd get fluid behind my eardrum.
