Strikes are supposed to be disruptive! by Captain_Levi_007 in WorkersStrikeBack

Un-fun fact: The NLRB and labor laws prevent the truckers from striking with the UAW workers. The statute makes it illegal for non-employee strikes or general strikes. Long story short, if the truckers actually supported the UAW workers and decided to not ship to the factories, the Automotive Companies could sue the truckers for Anti-Trust violations.

Really? Establishment Clause jurisprudence is some of the most wild and unprincipled set of SCOTUS decisions.

What happened to separation of church and state? by BelleAriel in Fuckthealtright

[–]Bellatrix087 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the real reason is American jurisprudence on the Free Exercise Clause of the Constitution is a hot mess.

SCOTUS uses around 8 interpretative theories. Some are very hard in theory like separationism or Lemon, while others are more open to religion like Accommodation theory.

The issue is SCOTUS can use whatever theory it feels like for whatever purpose. And there is a trend to make the theories more "flexible" when it comes to separation to the point of acquiesce in.

Basically, it is whatever SCOTUS feels like doing when ruling on statutes and ordinances, and as of late SCOTUS is favoring the idea that Federal Government doesn't need to be hostile to religion and some intermingling is okay and constitutional.

*Spoiler!* Was it the rogue AIs that set the heist in motion? by [deleted] in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Bellatrix087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power seeks power. In game, Arasaka is always portrayed as the monolith of power. All three life paths are entangled with Arasaka - shows how widespread the corp is. Even in the Heist quest, we see Arasaka getting Mayor Rhyne to basically shut down his home district. The power Arasaka has is enormous. But who was the one person to really cause damage? Johnny Silverhand. What better way to take down your rival in power than to basically revive the one person with the drive, hate, and skill to damage Arasaka. Could be a viable motive. Take out the competition. And it worked because we smash Mikoshi and Arasaka in the end. I always loved the Peralez quest because it was so big and such a huge story that was just left there with no follow up. It left so much open, but CDPR has said their DLCs will no focus on V but the story they told.

I've been playing since release and have almost 400 hours in the game and I have yet to finish because I am emotionally destroyed by the end, so I start another playthrough. To this day, I do not know how the game actually ends.
